Department Overview
The Head of AMCB Investigations and External Engagement Investigations and External Engagement will oversee a team of managers and investigators performing complex investigations of various types of financial crimes including serving as an escalation point for suspicious activity investigations, currency transaction reporting, global sanctions screening, evasion, enhanced due diligence or and other AML processes including potential insider threats risk to the bank and investigations generated by law enforcement, the Departments of Justice and Treasury and FINCEN through an Association of Banks formed under 314b of the U.S. Patriot Act
Job Requirements
Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent experience
  • 10 years of relevant work experience
  • ACAMs certification preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills - ability to effectively communicate and ability to tailor messaging to senior management
  • Excellent relationship management, including prior experience communicating with external regulatory agencies
  • Able to understand, analyze, and explain complex workflows
  • Self-Starter who can work independently with little guidance or direction
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines while working in a flexible environment
  • Attention to laws, rules & regulations
  • High technical expertise in MS Office platforms
  • Project Management experience
  • Ability to analyze, comprehend, and document complex processes
  • Highly analytical - Able to work with large data sets and workflows
  • Must be eligible for employment under regulatory standards applicable to the position.

Depth & Scope:
  • Provides people management leadership by hiring the best talent, setting goals, developing staff, managing employee performance and compensation decisions, promoting teamwork and handling any/all disciplinary actions, as required
  • Oversees and manages High-Risk Investigations unit with responsibility for conducting complex, sensitive and multi jurisdictional investigations, applying data analytics as needed
  • Including Business Referral / Triggering Events, Automated Alert Review, Non-System Alerts / Escalation Investigations, Intelligence Sharing and Transactions Monitoring
  • Ensures timely and accurate delivery of escalation reports for presenting finding to leadership, corporate investigations, legal partners, and law enforcement
  • Works closely with law enforcement, regulatory agencies, nonprofits and industry counterparts to share intelligence and best practices
  • Works closely with law enforcement and regulatory agencies to mitigate risks
  • Achieves compliance with laws and rules relating to Financial Crimes
  • Identifies, develops, and implements reasonable, risk-based internal controls
  • Identifies, evaluates, and resolves gaps relations to internal controls or the US AML program
  • Provides feedback of findings, control gaps and other relevant information to key stakeholders to include the business
  • Establish and maintain metrics to identify trends and patterns relative to store branches and, products and geographies.
  • Supports the Global Head of High-Risk Investigations in serving as the point of contact for the bank with regulatory supervisors, law enforcement and other government agencies on matters relating to Financial Crimes investigations
  • Escalates and communicates in a timely manner significant findings and events and work well with other internal stakeholders.
  • Designs, develops, and implements US AML insider threat security program that align with the business objectives and industry best practices
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams to assess, design, and deploy security solutions
