Description


General Description

We are looking for an individual to be part of a great team maintaining our existing environment and modernizing our legacy environment through cloud transformation. This individual should be ready to roll up their sleeves to tackle challenging issues to modernize our agency. This person will be allowed to work remotely and/or in their own office in downtown Austin with free parking. This individual will participate in all areas of the application development life cycle, for new as well as existing applications.

Examples of Work Performed

  • Develop and maintain applications using a variety of tools and languages.
  • Work, individually and with end-users, on requirements gathering and change specification.
  • Work in a team-based Agile development environment building applications with involvement in designing, coding, testing, debugging, and documenting those systems.
  • Document applications and related procedures.
  • Monitor and solve application issues.
  • Provide technical support.
  • Hands on experience with code management, and version control tools
  • Use initiative, creativity, and explore new ideas to accomplish tasks.

General Qualifications and Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited 4-year college or university in a technical field (transcripts are required). One year of programming-related experience may be substituted for every one year of college education.
  • Minimum three years’ experience working in application development and support.
  • Regular participation in code reviews and ability to accept and provide constructive suggestions for improvement.
  • Ability to work with users and IT staff in a professional and courteous manner, individually as well as in team settings.
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and disciplines.
  • Ability to provide accurate development estimates for trouble tickets and day to day tasks.
  • Multi-tasking using good organizational and problem-solving skills as well as excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to write clear, accurate, and concise documentation of programs and procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in Appian No/Low code environments
  • Experience with Microsoft .NET technologies, specifically VB.NET, ASP.NET, C#, MVC 5, Web API.
  • Experience with major cloud development environments
  • Experience in Appian No/Low code environments
  • Experience with relational database management systems and languages; especially MySQL/MariaDB and/or Oracle.
  • Experience with source code repository management systems like GitHub, Bitbucket, or Team Foundation Server.
  • Experience with git source control.
  • Understanding of networks, file/print servers, and web servers.
  • Experience with or knowledge of document management, imaging and workflow systems.
  • Experience with accounting systems, in particular Texas’ Uniform State Accounting System (USAS).
  • Experience with credit card processing and PCI concepts.
  • Experience with JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
  • Knowledge of industry secure web site coding standards to prevent common vulnerabilities such as SQL injection and cross-site scripting.
