Purpose of Position

To assist the Director of Finance in carrying out the successful operation of the Accounting Department in accordance with GAAP, KICA’s Covenants and Financial Controls Manual.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Oversee the operations of the accounting department and directly supervise accounting staff, providing regular coaching and feedback, and conducting annual performance evaluations.
  • Ensure departmental compliance with standard, industry internal controls and Financial Controls Manual and maintain appropriate documentation that supports compliance
  • Maintain proficiency in accounting software platforms in order to assist, troubleshoot, and serve as backup for accounting staff
  • Be knowledgeable of accounting department SOPs and ensure accuracy and compliance
  • Continually develop and implement process improvements including software implementation
  • Reconcile general ledger and oversee month-end closing process.
  • Assist Director of Finance with financial reporting as needed
  • Oversee accounts receivable and accounts payable, daily activities, ensuring accurate and timely processing.
  • Review and execute the monthly bank reconciliations completed by the Accounting Manager.
  • Maintain fixed asset records and monitor compliance with capital budget
  • Oversee and assist with bi-weekly payroll procedures as needed
  • Work closely with the Director of Finance to compile annual operating and capital budgets
  • Work with finance team and independent audit staff to ensure a clean and timely annual audit
  • Effectively maintain a team culture, supportive of external and internal constituents while also maintaining the utmost integrity, accountability, and transparency.
Requirements:

Qualifications and Abilities

  • Master’s degree in the field of accounting; CPA preferred.
  • Minimum of five years’ experience in an accounting or auditing field
  • Proficient with accounting software applications and Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with Blackbaud Financial Edge and Salesforce a plus
  • Proven ability to supervise and lead employees
  • Strong written and oral communications skills, positive attitude, team orientated, and solutions driven.
  • Other requirements:
  • Pass a pre-employment drug screen, criminal background and driving record check.
  • Maintain a valid South Carolina Driver’s License
