Job Description

Overview: As the Senior Director, Grants and Programs, you will play a pivotal role in securing funding opportunities, managing program budgets, and ensuring the effective implementation and evaluation of programs. This position requires a blend of strategic thinking, financial acumen, and leadership skills to drive the institutions mission forward through successful grant acquisitions and program management.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Research and Interpretation

  • Research and interpret funding opportunities and requests for proposals from federal, state, and local government agencies and foundations to assess alignment with institutional goals.
  • Conduct comprehensive surveys of federal funding opportunities to inform new program development initiatives.

2. Grant Proposal Development

  • Plan and implement strategies to generate financial support by identifying, researching, cultivating and soliciting private/corporate foundations, federal, and state funding sources.
  • Lead the application process, establishing timelines, identifying principal investigators, and coordinating submission materials.
  • Proactively research grant opportunities and support the submission of applications
  • Collect information, draft, and/or edit all major proposals submitted by the institution.

3. Budget Coordination and Financial Oversight

  • Coordinate the annual operating budget and monitor program budgets.
  • Work collaboratively with Finance to create and manage budgets.
  • Provide financial administrative oversight for programs as necessary.

4. Program Management and Evaluation

  • Develop and maintain data collection processes and program evaluation projects.
  • Implement strategies for program delivery, quality control, and evaluation with an emphasis on measurable outcomes.
  • Monitor scope of work to ensure timeliness, quality, and accuracy of activities in line with contractual and grant commitments.
  • Facilitate small and large group meetings, internally and externally, including on-site community meetings.
  • Monitor local, state, and national initiatives relating to relevant services.

5. Team Leadership and Collaboration

  • Effectively engage staff assets to support the ongoing work of grants and contracts.
  • Direct, lead, and manage the development of grant applications and reports through collaborative writing with staff teams.
  • Foster a collaborative and supportive work environment to ensure the success of grant acquisition and program management efforts.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Demonstrated experience in grant writing, proposal development, and program management.
  • Strong financial management skills, including budget development and oversight.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in data collection, analysis, and evaluation methodologies.
  • Knowledge of federal financial management regulations and OMB guidelines.
  • Leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire teams towards achieving organizational goals.
  • Strong influencing skills to effectively persuade and negotiate with stakeholders.
