Definition
Under general supervision from the Principal performs duties to support and assist the assigned classroom teacher. Specific work instruction will be provided by the teacher who is assigned by the Principal.
Primary Functions: Primary functions may vary among positions, but may include the following tasks, knowledge's, abilities, skills, and other characteristics. This list of tasks is ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY and is not intended to be a comprehensive listing of tasks performed by all positions within this classification.
Examples of Tasks
Job Duties:
  • Provides instructional assistance to students as directed by the classroom teacher. This may involve individual tutoring, small group instruction, supervision within the computer lab, etc.
  • Serves as the primary instructor for Early Childhood classroom and/or Adult Education classroom in the absence of the lead teacher.
  • Performs various types of clerical work as directed by classroom teacher. This may involve, but is not limited to tracking attendance, copying materials, filing papers, preparing reports, written plans and documents as directed. Inputs data monthly into the Imagination Library and keeps a running record of books FACE students receive.
  • Assists FACE team in completion of FACE Monthly Reports.
  • Supervises students within a classroom, during lunch periods, on school grounds, and at school activities.
  • With teachers and other staff members, will be responsible for knowing Education Board policies and ensuring that policies are enforced. This may entail correcting student behavior, testifying at hearings, and conferring with parents.
  • Participates in FACE trainings and on-going professional development trainings as required, including National Training.
  • Assists with facilitating parent discussions, Parent Time, daily PACT Time and monthly parent meetings.
  • Requests and plans for field trips; this includes duties such as check requests, purchase orders, and transportation requests.
  • Orders food for FACE events; turns in Meal Applications and updates/maintains rapport with SRES Kitchen staff.
  • Drives SRPMIC vehicle to transport FACE families when needed.
  • Initiates home visits when necessary for recruiting and retention.
  • Keeps track of phone log when students are absent; maintains a Parent Contact Log for communication with families.
  • Meets weekly with FACE team to plan and evaluate program services.
  • Assists FACE families in locating services/community resources as needed.
  • Facilitates parent discussions.
  • Monitors student progress daily through Anecdotal Note taking.
  • Assists in developing student portfolios for the Work Sampling Assessment.
  • Assists in completing the Work Sampling Checklist.
  • Participates in Parent/Teacher conferences.
  • Participates in community recruitment events.
  • Assists in completion of FACE data collection/paperwork at the end of each school year.
  • Assists in completion of FACE program planning, FACE Action Planning, and developing team goals.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.

Minimum Qualifications
Education and experience: Requires one of the following; Associates Degree, the completion of (2) two full years of study or 60 credit hours at an accredited institution of higher education, or a passing score on a paraprofessional exam that is approved by the Arizona Department of Education.
Underfill Eligibility: An enrolled Community Member whom closely qualifies for the minimum qualifications for a position may be considered for employment under SRPMIC Policy 2-19, Underfill.
Equivalency: Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience that would allow the candidate to satisfactorily perform the duties of this position, will be considered.
Special Requirements
Driving Requirement: Must possess and maintain a valid Arizona Driver's License.
Terms of Employment: This is a full-time non-exempt position scheduled for 40 hours per week.
Prior to hire as an employee, applicants will be subject to drug and alcohol testing. Will be required to pass a pre-employment background/fingerprint check.
