Job Summary
Thepurpose of this position is to provide nursing leadership, set resident carestandards for all direct care providers and provide complete supervision ofcare staff and management for the clinical and care systems.
Major Responsibilities
The Director of Health andWellness will:
  • Assumeresponsibility for the development of nursing service objectives andperformance standards of nursing practice for each category of nursingpersonnel
  • Assumeaccountability for the development, organization and implementation of approvedpolicies and procedures in collaboration with the Director of AL/MC
  • Direct,evaluate and supervise all resident care and initiate corrective action asnecessary
  • Assumeresponsibility for analysis of incident and accident investigation reports todetermine cause(s) and implement corrective action(s)
  • Assessresident needs and make recommendations for special rehabilitation programs,need for additional interventions and/or need for change in level of care
  • Evaluateresident care as related to individualized resident needs, family involvementand the physician's plan of care for the resident
  • Conductor participate in resident care conferences, as needed
  • Assessresident responses to medication and treatments and make appropriaterecommendations for nursing action to be implemented
  • Identifysafety hazards and initiate corrective action
  • Directimplementation of "Resident Bill of Rights."
  • Direct and implementand oversee nursing service educational programs including, but not limited to,orientation and in-service for licensed and unlicensed nursing personnel
  • Conductstaff meetings with all shifts for purposes of planning, coordinating andimplementing nursing service policies and procedures
  • Demonstrateconsistent management of nursing service problems, emergency situations, andinitiate "life-saving" measures in the absence of a physician
  • Assumeresponsibility for nursing service compliance with federal, state and localregulations
  • Participatein the planning and implementation of the nursing service budget andconsistently operate nursing service within the established budget guidelines
  • Directallocation of nursing service equipment and supplies within the facility andestablish guidelines for efficient, economical utilization of supplies andequipment
  • Directand supervise scheduling of employees within established guidelines forallocation of nursing service personnel on duty
  • Conductinterviews, hire nursing service employees, conduct counseling interviews andinitiate disciplinary action as necessary
  • Preparewritten employee performance evaluations and initiate recommendations forsalary increases, promotions and terminations alongside Community Manager
  • Makemanagement reports and special assignments and adhere to established timeschedules
  • Establishopen lines of communication with consultants and consistently take follow-upaction on recommendations
  • Takeinquiries for resident placement as assigned by the marketing and admissionsand initiate procedures for proper placement of residents and level of caredeterminations in collaboration with Community Managers
  • Communicatedaily with nursing personnel providing clear, concise information as well as specificassignments
  • Maintainconfidentiality of resident and facility information
  • Consistentlywork cooperatively with administration, all facility staff, ancillary personneland consultants
  • Observeall facility safety policies and procedures
  • Assumeaccountability for all data contained in the employees' handbook
  • Performall duties assigned in an effective, timely and professional manner
  • Observeinfection control procedures
  • Performother related duties as directed by his/her supervisor
  • Consistentlydemonstrate dependability and punctuality
  • Consistentlywork cooperatively with residents, residents' representatives, facility staff,physicians, consultants and ancillary service providers
RequiredCertifications, Licenses, and Registrations
  • Must possess acurrent LPN or RN license in the State of Michigan
  • Current CPRCertification

Experience
  • Clinical nursing experience of not less than 5years
  • 5 years of experience working in an AssistedLiving Facility preferred
  • A knowledge and interest in the senior living field
  • Knowledge ofState and Federal guidelines for Homes for the Aged preferred
