The New Mexico Judicial Standards Commission is an independent state agency within the Judicial Branch of the state government. The Commission is charged with investigating allegations of misconduct and disability against New Mexico state, county, and municipal judges within Article VI, Section 32 of the New Mexico Constitution. GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Acting under direct supervision of the Judicial Standards Commission (JSC) Executive Director, assists the public, performs clerical duties, processes JSC documents and complaints and maintains JSC case management system. Finalist(s) may be subject to criminal background checks. EXAMPLES OF JOB DUTIES
The Case Management Specialist I is responsible for providing statewide customer service on JSC process and procedures.
Processes, maintains, distributes and renames admin and case related emails, documents, files, and case materials.
Ensures JSC rules and procedures are followed as cases are processed.
Uses the JSC processes, procedures and case management system to (1) open cases; (2) docket cases – review documents and enter data in JSC database, scan and rename documents, and distribute to appropriate staff; and (3) close cases – in JSC database as well as verifying electronic and paper files to JSC case management system.
Assists public with obtaining complaint forms and provides guidance regarding submission of complaint forms.
Verifies information contained in the electronic record for accuracy and completeness.
May prepare and distribute meeting materials and minutes to Commissioners and Staff.
May serve as Commission Monitor, ensuring the complete and accurate recording or proceedings.
Answers telephones, processes mail, provides customer service and greets visitors and provides general information without giving legal advice.
Maintains a docket or calendar of deadlines and appointments.
Research JSC database, hard copy and archived files for case status data.
Responsible for checking the JSC forfiling account and processing all items received to include but not limited to emails, complaints, pleadings and other various documents.
Assists in reviewing and auditing case files to determine the accuracy of the file and prepares for destruction and/or archiving.
May assist in ordering and inventorying supplies.
Provides support to JSC Commission and staff.
Other duties as assigned.
COMPETENCIES/QUALIFICATIONS The successful applicant should demonstrate the following: knowledge and competency in computer software applications to include Word, Excel and Adobe; customer service practices; appropriate demeanor when interacting with the public or Commissioners in person or via telephone; communication skills orally and in writing; organize and prioritize workload and meet deadlines; punctuality; ability to manage multiple projects concurrently; ability to work independently; prepare and organize documents and correspondence precisely; maintain accurate files and records; distinguishing between JSC procedures and legal advice, legal terminology, case processing, auditing case files and correcting errors. WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS The following functions are representative, but not all-inclusive of the work environment and physical demands an employee may expect to encounter in performing tasks assigned to this job. Work is performed in an office setting to include Commission meetings and hearings. A valid driver's license and travel may be required. The assigned work schedule may include nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime. The employee must regularly interact positively with co-workers, clients, the public, judges, and justices.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education: A high school diploma or GED.
Education Substitution: None.
Experience: One (1) year of experience in general legal secretarial or a related field such as advanced customer service, data processing.
Experience Substitution: Additional post-secondary education in a related field may substitute for up to one (1) year of experience. Thirty (30) semester hours equals one (1) year of experience.
