About the Role
Packsize is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Production Engineer to assist manufacturing in Louisville, Kentucky. We are looking for someone who is passionate about the manufacturing process, improving product quality, building teams, designing assembly lines, and driving continuous improvement. The Production Engineer will be collaborating with other engineers (locally and globally), product managers, product quality, and suppliers in building reliable and repeatable processes for manufacturing of on-demand packaging systems. We want you to come in and ask well thought out questions, carry out solid fundamental engineering, do independent research and collaborate effectively with your peers. We have many projects going on and look forward to new ideas and diverse, creative thinking to help solve difficult problems.
What You'll Do
Assist with developing and implementing production lines for Packsize North American Manufacturing
Assist Manufacturing Engineering to develop layouts, subassembly stations, and work-flows for the manufacturing/assembly lines allowing for flexibility and scalability
Lead the successful introduction of new products into production, including process validation, equipment selection, and optimization of manufacturing processes to meet quality and efficiency targets
Provide technical support to manufacturing operations, troubleshoot production issues, and develop innovative solutions to address challenges in real-time
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for process improvements and implement solutions to enhance productivity, quality, and efficiency
Implement and maintain quality control measures to ensure compliance with industry standards, customer specifications, and regulatory requirements
Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to resolve quality issues
Drive a culture of continuous improvement by implementing lean manufacturing principles, conducting process audits, and engaging team members in the problem-solving activities to optimize production workflows
Collaborate with maintenance teams to develop and implement preventive maintenance programs, schedule equipment upgrades, and ensure maximum uptime of production machinery
Assist in the creation and maintenance of accurate documentation of production processes, equipment specifications, and quality control procedures
Generate reports to track key performance indicators (KPIs) and provide regular updates to management on production metrics and improvement initiatives
Be on the forefront of technologies used for safety and efficiency
Be team-driven and bring an optimistic and positive attitude
What Youll Bring
BS/MS in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or related field
Minimum 5 years experience in production/manufacturing
Lean Six-Sigma experience
SolidWorks and Solidworks PDM advanced user
Knowledgeable and experienced in automation technology, industrial automation design and system architecture
Knowledgeable in design for manufacturing and serviceability
Experienced with PLM and very knowledgeable of engineering change (ECO) processes
Track record of successful sustaining engineering and project management
Capable of evaluating quotations, specifications, and documentation to discern functional requirements
Established interpersonal skills to collaborate in team environments while maintaining individual duties effectively
Well versed in reading part and assembly drawings including dimensions and tolerances (GD&T), and technical requirements
Understands the concepts of PLCs or embedded systems, machine automation and programming
Can read and reasonably follow electrical and pneumatics schematics
Promotes the scientific method and engineering best practices
Demonstrates lean and design thinking disciplines and mindsets
Shows curiosity and humility
Working Environment and Physical Demands
The following are representative of the typical working environment and physical demands
of this position. To successfully perform the essential functions of this job, you will be required to:
Up to 20% travel as needed
Ability to do the physical work necessary to fabricate prototypes (using machine shop tools, turning wrenches etc )
What We Offer
The salary range for this role is $75,000-105,000 however, Packsize considers several factors when determining compensation when extending a job offer, including but not limited to, the role being offered, the associated responsibilities, the candidate's prior work experience, education/training, and any special skills.
