Job Title: Installation Technician

Job Summary:

As an Installation technician, you will be an essential member of the installation team, contributing to the success of our operations. We are seeking a skilled, efficient, and detail-oriented worker for the installation of signs. Primary duties include crane operation, basic low voltage electrical knowledge, troubleshooting and reading wire diagrams. Should be able to auger (mechanical & manual). Ability to field weld, gas acetylene torch operations and knowledge of OSHA standards and protocol. Operational knowledge of various types of rental equipment, hardware, and mounting methods

Responsibilities:

  • Sign Installation:
    • Reviewing, understanding, and performing tasks required directed by SouthWood Corporation drawings.
    • Attention to detail.
    • Knowledge of wiring electrical components for illumination of sign cabinets, channel letters and various other products.
    • Assembly of various plastics, metals and components using/applying tapes, fasteners, adhesives and various tools and mounting techniques.
    • Support the install team in all manners and aspects required (inter-departmental). Pay it forward in a professional manner and assist in training and direction for new employees in the proper SouthWood Corporation way.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues that may arise during install, seeking assistance from Lead when needed.
    • Follow directives from and/or ask for assistance from the Install Manager, Install Coordinator, Lead supervisors and Project Managers.
  • Truck Management:
    • Keeping up on the truck checklist for admin.
    • Keeping the truck clean.
    • Tracking and conducting truck maintenance.
  • Quality Assurance
    • Perform proper location and placement of signs.
  • Material and Tool Management
    • Conducting regular tool checks, making sure they are in working order.
  • Safety and Compliance
    • Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines. Pay special attention while operating the truck and handling materials and tools.
    • Promote and maintain a safe and organized work environment.
    • Make sure team is following all safety regulations and requirements.
  • Safety
    • Enforce all safety rules and document safety incidents with the QC and Safety Manager.
  • Process
    • Adherence to all SW process and standards.
  • Collaboration and Communication
    • Work with Installation Manager and follow installation schedules to prioritize tasks ensuring timely completion, adherence to quality standards, and meeting installation targets.
    • Collaborate with various departments and department leads to ensure smooth workflow and efficiency.
    • Participate in team meetings to discuss installation status, challenges, and improvements.
    • Maintain clear and effective communication across all levels of the organization through emails, and other communication channels.
  • Record Keeping
    • Maintain detailed records of installation, material usage, install times, and any encountered issues.
    • Documenting job with pictures

Qualifications and Skills:

- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications or relevant vocational training is a plus.

- - Excellent organizational and time management skills to handle multiple projects simultaneously.

- Ability to work collaboratively across departments to achieve production goals.

- Strong attention to detail and dedication to maintaining quality standards.

- Safety-conscious with a commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.

- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.

- Ability to interpret design drawings and blueprints accurately.
