The Role
Apollo is seeking a Principal, COO for Apollo's Opportunistic Credit business to play a pivotal role in driving the ongoing success of its $25bn platform. The COO will partner closely with Apollo's Opportunistic Credit Investment team to create leverage and efficiencies and establish goals, priorities, and strategic objectives that scale the platform, streamline processes and ensure best-in-class execution. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical understanding of the credit markets and strategies Apollo offers, as well as exhibit the hands-on tenaciousness necessary to push projects and initiatives forward.
Primary Responsibilities
  • Leverage deep understanding of credit markets, strategies, and asset classes to establish and own the annual goals, priorities, and overall strategic objectives of Apollo's Opportunistic Credit business
  • Provide thought leadership around the long-term direction of each business against long-term objectives within Opportunistic Credit
  • Proactively coordinate with non-investing functions across Apollo, specifically Client Product Solutions (CPS), Legal, and Tax, to drive progress and execution of priorities
  • Lead special projects from ideation to implementation
  • Drive and develop avenues for revenue generation
  • As a "do-er", provide hands-on leadership to ensure efficient day-to-day operations in partnership with the investment professionals
  • Oversee and optimize operational processes to enhance efficiency and advance our commercial approach to internal/external information sharing; areas of focus include (but are not limited to): trading, investment, risk, finance, and operations
Qualifications & Experience
  • 9-12 years of relevant experience within asset management
  • Strategic thinker with proven track record of driving long-term growth and success
  • Proven experience establishing and effectuating the strategic direction for an investing business at a global firm is required
  • Demonstrated experience contributing to the long-term growth and success of a credit/opportunistic credit business required
  • Technical expertise in the credit markets and credit asset classes
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
  • Hands-on approach to leadership and problem-solving

Pay Range
200,000-300,000
The base salary range for this position is listed above. This position is also eligible for a discretionary annual bonus based on personal, team, and Firm performance. Compensation ranges are based on several factors including job function, level, and geographic location. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including candidate experience and expertise, and may vary from the amounts listed here.
