CoWorx is seeking a Gear Engineer for one of our top manufacturing clients in Manchester, CT.
This person needs to develop robust gear designs that meet or exceed customer requirements for various applications. The Gear Engineer will evaluate gear systems, make necessary adjustments for optimized performance, and ensure proper tooth geometry, tolerances, wear, and strength. Additionally, the role involves providing product design support to the sales team and customers for new gear applications. The ideal candidate will collaborate effectively across all departments and communicate clearly with customers.
Primary Tasks:
- Design single gears and gear meshes based on customer requirements.
- Develop gear data sheets for inspection and apply shrinkage to plastic gear data.
- Design electrodes and hobs for various gear types.
- Work alongside program managers, sales, quality, tool room, molding, and customers.
- Review inspection results and decide on tool rework or data deviation requests.
- Develop new cavity data based on inspection results and review gear mesh.
Education/Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or relevant field OR 10 years of practical gear/quality engineering experience.
- Strong knowledge of effective gear design and quality systems.
- Experience in product design and tool design is advantageous.
- Familiarity with plastics injection molding is a plus.
- Proficiency in software programs such as Excel, Word, Solidworks
- Experience with inspection tools like Zeiss CMM, double flank gear checker, micrometer, caliper, etc.
