North Providence School Department is Hiring a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) Near Providence, RI


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct Functional Behavior Assessments (FBA) as required for students exhibiting behaviors interfering with their education and the education of others.1
- Complete Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP) based upon FBA results and communicate these plans effectively to all stakeholders.
- Develop appropriate data collection methods to capture behavior data effectively for proper analysis of intervention strategies.
- Ensure frequent monitoring and analyzing of collected data.
- Develop safety plans as required for students that exhibit potentially dangerous behaviors. - Assist direct staff with implementation of proactive and reactive strategies as outlined in BIP as needed.
- Assist with crisis intervention (including use of approved physical intervention strategies) as required.
- Present and communicate behavioral data to all stakeholders in a clear and effective manner during any progress or Individualized Education Program (IEP) meeting.
- Develop and maintain in-classroom supports (i.e., visual schedules, token systems, etc.) as suggested by BIP as needed.
- Consult and collaborate effectively with all stakeholders, including but not limited to: Administrators, Special Educators, General Educators, Support Staff, Itinerants, Behavior Specialists and Parents.
- Help maintain individual records for each student.
- Develop behavioral strategies and intervention plans that align with the District’s mission of educating our differently abled students in the least restrictive environment.
- Complete all required District paperwork and Medicaid billing in a timely manner.
- Attend meetings as required to maintain awareness of current and upcoming needs within the District.
- Attend meetings to help organize a daily/weekly behavior based program and discuss problematic students and situations when required.
- Utilize de-escalation techniques acquired from the Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training to assist students when met with a challenge by physical needs such as outbursts, running, etc.
- Required to attend upcoming CPI training for de-escalation techniques and renew annually.
- Provide escort and assistance to students as necessary.
- Train classroom support staff to meet the needs of the students.
- Consult with all other personnel and outside services as needed.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Student Services and/or his/her designee.
