Shelter Support Staff 3rd Shift The Shelter Support Staff is responsible for the day-to-day direct service provision to ensure smooth operations of the NEK Shelter. In this role, the Shelter Support Staff will be required to be the point person for guests of the NEK Shelter so that their stay is safe, dignified, and comfortable. This role will be occupied 24/7 with 3 work shifts, weekends and holidays will be required. Applicants would be able to specify preferred hours and will be contacted with available shifts at the NEK Shelter.

Assists in developing new projects & programs internal to the NEK Shelter.
Represents the Agency & needs of low-income community members at various organizations.
Keeps supervisor apprised of any pertinent information needing to be reported.
Participate in community-based initiatives as necessary.
Attend meetings and trainings that pertain to all aspects of shelter work.
Provide intake of new shelter guests as necessary.
Support NEK Shelter guests in day-to-day tasks required of living in a congregate shelter.
Assist in food service for shelter guests.
Assist in shelter cleaning tasks as necessary.
Implement NEK Shelter Operation Procedures in the NEK Shelter Operation Manual.
Develop a network of resources and make referrals to appropriate service providers as needed.
All other duties consistent with the position as assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements
Must comply with NEKCA policies if hired.
Staff will be required to authorize and pass NEKCA's criminal record check process
High School Diploma and experience in Human Services-related field.
Demonstrated familiarity with, and sensitivity to the challenges faced by low- income people, and some knowledge of the community and available resources to address them.
Ability to work flexible hours and effectively with a diverse variety of people.
Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and oral & written communication skills.
Experience with Microsoft Office and database systems.
Ability to work independently as well as with a team.
