SCCMHA JOB VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT  

CLASSIFICATION:  Stabilization Therapist 3rd Shift (10:30pm - 7:30am)

PROGRAM LOCATION: MRSS 

PAY GRADE: $59,852.56 - $74,613.14( $2.50 shift premium, $3.25 Fri-Sun, $5.50 Holiday)

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:  

Under the general supervision of Mental Health Supervisor and Site Program Supervisor (Mobile Response and Stabilization Services, MRSS), provides clinical services as a member of a mobile, community-based crisis intervention team to residents of Saginaw County. Serves all target populations including adults with mental illness, youth with emotional disturbance, individuals with developmental disabilities, and individuals with co-occurring substance use disorders. In addition, provides crisis intervention services within community settings such as schools, adult and youth foster care homes, private residences, and others, with the purpose of assisting those experiencing a mental health crisis and/or who may need assistance accessing ongoing mental health services. Provides (via telehealth or in-person contact) urgent screening, short-term clinical intervention, crisis stabilization, and safety/support planning with the goal of diverting hospitalization or legal involvement when appropriate. Works as a member of a multi-departmental group with SCCMHA Crisis Intervention Services, Central Access and Intake and Care Management with shared performance goals related to access, consumer satisfaction, and risk management. Collaborates with adult and youth mental health service providers to ensure consumers may access the most appropriate level of care in an outpatient setting. Provides consultation to law enforcement and co-responds to crises as appropriate. Available for assignment to the schedule seven (7) days per week, overnight (from 10:30 PM-7:30 AM), including holidays. This position will be knowledgeable about and actively support culturally competent recovery-based practices; person-centered planning as a shared decision-making process with the individual, who defines his/her life goals and is assisted in developing a unique path toward those goals; and a trauma-informed culture of safety to aid consumer in the recovery process.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: 

Education: 

Master's degree in a mental health related field from an accredited school.

Valid Michigan Driver’s license with a good driving record.

A limited licensed master’s social worker (LLMSW), licensed master’s social worker (LMSW), limited licensed professional counselor (LLPC), licensed professional counselor (LPC), limited licensed marriage and family therapist (LLMFT), licensed marriage and family therapist (LMFT), limited licensed psychologist (LLP) and licensed psychologist (LP).

Experience: 

A minimum of one (1) year of experience in the examination, evaluation, and treatment of minors and their families including dealing with individuals in crisis situations. Professional clinical experience working with adults and children with serious mental health disorders. Experience completing a thorough assessment including an assessment of risk to self and others. Experience developing short-term stabilization or safety plans when warranted

Ability to apply clinical theory as it relates to psychology, psychopathology, child development, related psychotherapeutic methods, systems theory, and chronic mental illness.

Ability to engage in crisis de-escalation techniques and solution-focused brief therapeutic interventions.

Excellent communications skills with respect to listening, oral, written, and public speaking.

Ability to handle individuals who may be distributive or potentially violent.

Ability to embrace and practice the concepts associated with recovery.

Ability to engage with consumers and the public in welcoming and engaging manner.

Ability to practice from a philosophy that all persons should receive services in the least restrictive setting.

Ability to plan, organize, and complete work in a timely fashion.

Ability to be flexible and creative in plan development.

Ability to accept and implement constructive supervision.
