Screener - FT Variable Shifts - Includes Weekend Hours - Eastern Long Island Hospital

Duties of a Screener may include but are not limited to the following:

  • Actively greet all persons entering the hospital premises.
  • Actively screen and provide personal protective equipment (i.e., masks) to all individuals entering hospital building/premises/property including, but not limited to, hospital personnel, medical staff, patients, visitors and vendors.
  • Screening duties includes, but is not limited to, monitoring temperature, as well as querying for respiratory symptoms related to COVID-19 or similar. Report those not meeting entrance requirements.
  • Responsible for the smooth flow of patients, visitors and employees entering hospital building/premises/property.
  • The position is designed to assist in infection prevention, preserve normal workplace operations, and alleviate undue strain on workforce responsibilities.
  • The Screener Clerk is required to work in a variety of environments designated by the hospital.
  • Maintains confidentiality of facility employees, patients and visitors.
  • Performs clerical tasks as required.

Qualifications:

  • At least 1 year of Hospital/Patient Care/Contact experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to use temperature taking devices - (hospital training provided)
  • Clerical skills
  • Excellent communications and customer service skills
  • Sound decision making and judgment
  • Ability to prioritize responsibilities and complete tasks in a timely manner
  • Ability to adjust to changes in routine, assignment and hospital needs
  • Mandatory CPR Certification

Prior to start date, the selected candidate must meet the following requirements:

  • Successfully complete pre-employment physical examination and obtain medical clearance from Stony Brook ELI 's Employee Health Services*
  • Successfully complete a 4-panel drug screen*
  • Meet Regulatory Requirements for pre-employment screenings.
  • Provide a copy of any required New York State license(s)/certificate(s).

Failure to comply with any of the above requirements could result in a delayed start date and/or revocation of the employment offer.

  • The Human Resources department will be responsible for any fee incurred for examination.

As part of Stony Brook Medicine, Stony Brook Eastern Long Island Hospital (SBELIH) combines the best in academic and community medicine, improving access to advanced medical care for residents of the North Fork and Shelter Island. With 70 beds, SBELIH is Suffolk County’s first hospital, serving the North Fork since 1905.
