Job TitleBusiness Administrator II Agency Texas A&M Agrilife Research Department Unit Business Services Proposed Minimum SalaryCommensurate Job LocationCollege Station, Texas Job TypeStaff Job Description The Business Administrator II, under general supervision, manages the full range of business activities, including reviewing and approving business documents and developing, monitoring, and reporting accounts, budgets, and other quantitative data. Responsibilities: Serves as an approver and back-up signer of vouchers and requisitions. Assists with the management of financial transactions, including assigning costs to appropriate accounts. Monitors unit expenditures within budget guidelines and maintains the unit software/application designated for the purpose of account reconciliation/verification. Assist with preparation of reconciliations/verifications of all accounts for unit review. Assists Senior Business Administrator with coordination of fiscal activities, including the development, monitoring, and reporting of budget activity, as well as coordination of annual fiscal year closing activities and drafting new fiscal year plans. Proposes solutions to complex financial problems. Monitors, evaluates, and ensures compliance with Agency, University, and State guidelines, policies, and procedures. May assist in development or revision, and implementation, of unit and/or department processes and procedures. Serves as a resource to principal investigators as they prepare new proposals. Reviews budgets to help ensure the best utilization of funds awarded. Audits and approves cash handling activities and may oversee unit purchasing activities, including the purchase and sale of unit livestock, for the purpose of maintaining an up-to-date livestock inventory. May serve as a back-up for payroll and human resources processes. Assists in communication of personnel policies and procedures with unit and department employees. Serves as liaison with financial, payroll and/or human resources units. Develops, implements, and audits business procedures upon approval and advises upper administration. Manages maintenance of all business files. Develops complex financial and statistical analyses and summary reports. Composes standard and ad hoc reports and business-related correspondence. Prepares complex monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports. Participates in the hiring of subordinate business office staff, as well as the training of both staff and student workers on new and existing business procedures. Assists in the interpretation of policies and regulations for staff. May supervise business staff and/or student workers, and/or serve as office manager in the absence of the Senior Business Administrator. Required Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. Six years of related experience. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications. Interpersonal and communication skills. Planning and organizational skills. Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. What you need to know Salary: Pay Grade 12 Please note: Remote work is not available for this position.
