Job Title: Operating Room Attendant Cost Center: 301451311 MqaHos-Surgical Svcs Scheduled Weekly Hours: 32 Employee Type: Regular Work Shift: 8-hour day shifts, variable days (United States of America) Job Description: JOB SUMMARY The Operating Room Attendant functions as a member of the healthcare team by providing assistance to the operating room staff and providing support for the patient’s care, comfort and safety. The Operating Room Attendant performs in a manner consistent with Marshfield Clinic Health Systems’ mission, policies, and initiatives while maintaining patient confidentiality. Hours: 8 hour days, shift is variable but mostly 7:00am-3:30pm with an occasional later day. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS 1. Safely picks up and delivers instrumentation to departments in a timely manner for patient care. 2. Assists in meeting case demands by preparing instrumentation and supplies. 3. Assists in cleaning and set up of the Operating Room to provide efficient turnover times. 4. Functions in the 2nd scrub role during cases to assist the surgeon and surgical technologist to provide safe and efficient patient care. 5. Independently identifies co-workers in need of assistance and offers such assistance and/or responds appropriately when requested by co-workers to assist with job duties. 6. Performs additional duties as requested/assigned by management. 7. Regular attendance is required in order to carry out the essential functions of the position. 8. Reviews and meets ongoing competency requirements of the role to maintain the skills, knowledge and abilities to perform, within scope, role specific functions. ADDITIONAL DUTIES: 1. May serve as Preceptor for new staff to provide support and guidance during initial orientation and training period. 2. May participate on teams formed to improve work processes, patient satisfaction and/or cost effectiveness. 3. Must be able to focus on multiple tasks simultaneously. 4. Other duties as assigned. JOB QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION Education qualifications must be from a school whose accreditation is recognized by Marshfield Clinic Health System. Minimum Required: High school diploma or equivalent. Preferred/Optional: None EXPERIENCE Minimum Required: None Preferred/Optional: Direct patient care experience in an operating room setting. CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES The following licensure(s), certification(s), registration(s), etc., are required for this position, which must be maintained in good standing: Minimum Required: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification provided by the American Heart Association within three months of hire. Preferred/Optional: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification provided by the American Heart Association at time of hire.
