These supporting documents are helpful during the application review process.PLEASE NOTE: In some cases, Benton County, may still require upon hire, a Sealed Transcript to be provided to the Human Resource Department for review.Position SummaryThe Public Health Nurse Supervisor supervises and provides oversight to professional and para-professional staff in the Public Health Department. This position: • Performs public health nursing duties in the absence of Staff Nurses and other Departmental Staff. • Provides education to community stakeholders. • Promotes the basic principles of disease prevention, health promotion, and injury prevention through organized community efforts. • Assists in developing goals and guidelines for established priorities to assure that programs are implemented to meet the needs of the public. • Ensures departmental compliance of local, state, and federal guidelines. • Maintains that safe and quality public health services are provided to the community.The Public Health Nurse Supervisor also serves as the backup to the Community Health Services Administrator/Public Health Director.Scope of ResponsibilityResponsible for providing supervision of professional and para-professional employees within the Public Health Department. Additional duties as back up to the Community Health Services Administrator/Public Health Director.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Duties and ResponsibilitiesEssential Duties and ResponsibilitiesA. Provides direct supervision of Public Health Department staff. A.1. Evaluates performance and prepares performance improvement plans. A.2. Consults on disciplinary issues. A.3. Establishes and maintains nursing practice standards. A.4. Participates in employee recruitment, hiring, training, and retention activities. A.5. Ensures compliance with the County Personnel Policies, Collective Bargaining Agreements, and federal, state, and local regulations. A.6. Assures adherence to the client bill of rights, data privacy, record protection, vulnerable adult policies, HIPAA, mandated reporting policies and other relevant policies.B. Assists the Community Health Services Administrator/Public Health Director. B.1. Assists with the Benton County Community Health Assessment and identification of community health priorities. B.2. Assists in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the Community Health Improvement Plan. B.3. Assists in the monitoring, analysis, and reporting on the status of community health within Benton County. B.4. Supervises and assists with various departmental grant processes: budget monitoring, application, objectives, work plans, implementation, outcome evaluation, tracking, and reporting. B.5. Supervises and assists with planning and development of grant workplans and program design. B.6. Assists with departmental and organizational capacity building and training activities to advance the foundational public health responsibilities. B.7. Facilitates the use of quality improvement and performance management techniques to improve the effectiveness of public health programs. B.8. Coordinates and participates in agency public relations. B.9. Collaborates with other county agencies at varying levels of government and community partners from various sectors.C. Maintains community partnerships, multidisciplinary teams, and interagency teams.D. Informs and educates the public regarding public health issues with appropriate methods for all ages and from diverse cultural, socioeconomic, educational, racial, and ethnic backgrounds, sexual orientations, lifestyles, and physical abilities.E. Manages day-to-day operations of assigned Public Health Department duties.F. Maintains records and files and prepares reports.G. Interprets and disseminates state/federal regulations and policies to staff and leadership.H. Manages and responds to client complaints and grievances.I. Promotes the Public Health Department and its mission, vision, and values, using public health principles as a guide.J. Conducts emergency response duties, trainings, and drills in support of public health emergency and disaster preparedness; serves as a 24/7 emergency contact member for the Public Health Department.Additional Duties and ResponsibilitiesA. Attends trainings as needed.B. Member of Public Health Department management team.C. Performs Community Health Services Administrator/Public Health Director duties in absence of the Community Health Services Administrator/Public Health Director.D. Performs other duties as assigned or apparent.

Knowledge and completion of training relative to Family Home Visiting Programs.C. Familiarity with Benton County community agencies and resources.D. Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, using strong positive public relations skills.E. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.F. Ability to administer operating rules and procedures under management guidance.G. Ability to perform varied work involving many complex and significant variables, requiring analytical ability and inductive thinking in adapting policies, procedures, and methods to fit unusual and complex situations.H. Knowledge of principles, practices, and techniques of professional Public Health and Nursing functions.I. Knowledge of medical terminology, diseases, illnesses, chronic and communicable disease prevention and intervention, child development, and nutrition.J. Ability to maintain communication with outside and inside contacts on matters requiring cooperation, explanation, and persuasion.Physical Demands & Working ConditionsA. Work is performed in the office and in the community. A partial remote arrangement may be permitted at the discretion of the Department Head.B. This position involves mainly sedentary work with occasional lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (5-10 pounds).C. Level of computer work may result in headaches, eyestrain, carpal tunnel syndrome, and related occupational hazards.D. This position may encounter verbal abuse and threats from hostile and frustrated clients.E. Community sites may subject this position to communicable diseases, insects and other disease vectors, toxins, hazardous materials, chemicals, and animals.F. This position requires ability to manage stress and stress-related situations.G. This position requires attention to detail and deadlines.H. Fit Testing upon hire and annually (or as needed just in time).Hours of WorkA. Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.Equipment UtilizedA.
