Reports to: Vice President, Research and Development

Salary: Commensurate with experience

Position summary & purpose

Support Vice President, Research & Development in prioritizing, organizing, and executing R&D and technical sales activities that support the company’s goals and objectives. Directly involved in working with Territory Sales Managers, VPs of R&D and Sales & Marketing, and Marketing Communications Coordinators to develop technical sales plans for each territory. Play a significant role in refining and developing new sales tools to meet the needs of each territory plan. Assist in vetting potential mechanical upgrades and current technologies both in-house and externally to ensure product quality is maintained throughout the distribution channel. Aid in preparing and delivering sales-based and technical-based presentations to meet sales goals. Assist in furthering our company’s relationship with key members of our distributor and dealer network. Position will focus primarily (but not exclusively) on assisting with Territory Sales Managers in Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin and Illinois. Position will be remote with significant travel.

Requirements

Responsibilities and Tasks

· Travel both independently and with Territory Sales Managers to discover new and foster existing dealer relationships to grow company sales

· Support Calcium Products’ Territory Sales Managers by providing agronomic technical support as requested for dealers/distributers and growers (including sales training presentations & other personal interaction)

· Organize and maintain various data sets so analysis and visualization can be performed easily to identify important trends and impacts

· Write professional reports and/or white papers/technical bulletins highlighting results of laboratory and field research projects and informational topics of relevance to sales reps, dealers, and growers

· Assist in development and implementation of new tools to aid in the sales process – financial, technical, informational, etc.

· Work with Marketing Communications Coordinators, VP Sales & Marketing and VP Research & Development consistently to ensure technical messaging is being effectively communicated through sales and marketing efforts

· Develop and execute territory technical sales needs process to ensure needs & requests are being met on a territory-by-territory basis

· Support the sales and marketing team by providing sound agronomic data, advice, and evidence as they prepare and modify sales and marketing literature

· Product trials – preparation, execution, monitoring, evaluation, site visits, data collection & dissemination of results in a timely manner

· Perform background research/literature reviews

· Work with production facilities to collect, organize, analyze and graph product quality control data. Support production facilities in proper interpretation of the quality control data to support improvements in product quality

· Identify research needs and assist in protocol development to help support company goals

· Monitor and report on trends in the agriculture industry as it pertains to soil amendments, fertility management, soil quality & health, and competition for Calcium Products

· Aid operations and sales teams with reports of product quality issues to determine root cause, potential solutions (equipment or other), and serve as liaison between dealers/retailers and operations to communicate various messages.

Education and Experience

· Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Agronomy or related field is required

· Experience with agronomic technical support and presenting sales- and technical-based information preferred

· Experience in production agriculture and/or agriculture retail is preferred

· CCA/CPAg training or certification preferred

· Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
