Basic Qualifications

Position Description
Reporting directly to the Assistant Dean for Diversity Inclusion and Community Partnership, the Program Manager will develop, implement and manage LGBT programs for HMS faculty, trainees, students, and staff. This person will serve as lead/primary contact for LGBT programs ensuring that HMS is a welcoming and safe place for the LGBT community and allies.
Specific Job Responsibilities:
  1. Relationship Management and Decision-Making Support
    • Act as the HMS LGBT subject matter expert for inquiries from the HLA community and nationally.
    • Collaborate and build relationships with key leaders and others at HMS offices and affiliated institutions, as well as HSDM, TH Chan SPH, and HU to support LGBT efforts and inclusion programming to design and implement events that support the LGBT community.
    • Work with other units within the DICP to support new and ongoing programming and efforts.
    • Liaise with medical, graduate and postdoctoral education, particularly with HMS Program in Medical Education (PME), Office of Recruitment Multicultural Affairs (ORMA), HMS Graduate Education and HMS/HSDM Office for Postdoctoral Fellows.
    • Represent the DICP LGBT Office at conferences.
  1. Program Management
    • Staff the LGBT Advisory Committee, including building and maintaining relationships with faculty, staff, students, and trainees for current and future participation.
    • Negotiate and implement meetings, programs and other event logistics including the LGBT Advisory Committee retreat and LGBT reception.
    • Assemble and maintain data for report preparation.
    • Research, collate and draft key documents related to LGBT programs and activities.
    • Research new funding opportunities and, in conjunction with DICP leadership, build relationships with donors for LGBT-related programs and initiatives.
    • Develop proposals in consultation with DICP leadership and develop progress reports as per funders' requirements.
    • Engage with other offices included but not limited to DICP programs, events, activities, initiatives, as needed.
  1. Mentor/Mentee Development Support
    • Develop program content and work with DICP staff to create marketing material, including collateral, website, social media, as well as other communication methods and materials.
    • Create and maintain administrative systems. Supervise interns, as identified.

Work Format Details
This is a hybrid position that is based in Massachusetts. Additional details will be discussed during the interview process. All remote work must be performed within one of the Harvard Registered Payroll States, which currently includes Massachusetts, Connecticut, Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Vermont, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Virginia, Washington, and California (CA for exempt positions only). Certain visa types and funding sources may limit work location. Individuals must meet work location sponsorship requirements prior to employment.
