- Part time AM: 2 12-hour shifts per week (6:30 a.m.-7 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday).
This position will be cross-trained to perform Unit Secretary duties as well.
Job Highlights:Being a patient care technician (PCT) at UAB Medicine is the perfect way to gain hands-on experience for those pursuing a career in health care. This role assumes responsibility for certain technical aspects of inpatient care, as directed by the RN or LPN on the unit, and they work side by side with bedside nurses as part of a care team. PCT responsibilities on this unit can include: ensuring that rooms have adequate patient care supplies, retrieving equipment and setting up sterile trays, notifying nursing staff of any issues or concerns, keeping patient rooms clean and sanitized, and assisting the unit secretary with administrative duties, which can involve taking calls to respond to neonatal emergencies and codes. This role will also be cross-trained to learn the responsibilities of the unit secretary role. Ideal candidates have at least one year of clerical/administrative experience and patient care experience.
