Responsibilities

The Operations Manager will align and support the organization’s processes, systems and strategic goals while working cross functionally on initiatives to drive our internal and external customer experience.

This roll will lead data driven decisions regarding the strategy of our operations team. The operations manager will lead leaders of people and professional level individual contributors. The role is responsible for quality assurance oversight and the successful delivery of company projects. This includes regular review of functional team’s workflows and effectiveness while working with business analysts to identify data needs to deliver on our brand promise.

An Operations Manager fulfills the primary responsibilities of the role by executing the following duties and tasks:

  • Managerial oversight of operations and business analyst teams to align, support and enhance operational processes and workflows across all functions of the company.
  • Lead teams to proactively review and analyze data to identify areas for process improvement, innovation, and opportunities for operational efficiency and constructive collaboration.
  • Provide timely coaching and feedback and conduct crucial conversations to drive and manage individual and team performance.
  • Collaborate with department leaders and team members to establish annual goals and create individual development plans.
  • Assess talent, identify development and training opportunities, and conduct regular coaching and feedback meetings to enable the team to deliver on established goals.
  • Assist department leadership with short and long-term strategic planning.
  • Develop, recommend, and implement strategic department initiatives in collaboration with department leadership.
  • Formulate and deliver professional communication to vendors, agencies, and other stakeholders.
  • Communicate status of team performance and progress of special tasks and projects to key stakeholders and senior leadership and collect feedback to improve results.
  • Actively research, creatively design and implement effective methods to educate and develop the operations teams.
  • Partner with HR and leadership team to execute on our talent management strategies to increase employee engagement, drive performance and foster a psychologically safe environment.
  • Lead teams that collaborate across various company functions such as finance, data, and claims to identify and implement operational best practices.
  • Annual review and oversight of the operations budget including expense budget of direct reports and team.
  • Own the resolution of escalated business situations with both internal and external customers.
  • Demonstrate a deep understanding of the BerkleyNet business operations and systems.
  • Lead or participate in special and/or cross-functional project teams related to company strategic initiatives.

Qualifications

  • 5 years’ experience in the Insurance industry preferably with Workers Compensation background
  • 2 – 5 years of experience managing and leading a team of direct reports
  • Demonstrated application of analytical and quantitative skills.
  • Proven record of setting delivery commitments and meeting expectations
  • Ability to make decisions incorporating diverse perspectives.
  • Prior experience managing and influencing in a cross-functional matrix environment.
  • Discretion in dealing with highly confidential and sensitive information.
  • Results-focused, resilient and can adapt quickly to change.
  • Experience effectively managing and prioritizing work for multiple complex projects simultaneously to meet deadlines.

  • Bachelor's Degree
