Under the general supervision of the Executive Director, the Beautician/Barber is
responsible for providing direct personal hair care and grooming to male and female
residents of the Facility.
DUTIES
1. Schedules hair appointments for residents.
2. Shampoos and styles hair for residents with diverse ethnic backgrounds by
setting, blow-drying, cutting, trimming and/or braiding; may perform beauty
services such as applying solutions that straighten hair or retains curl or wave in
hair; may provide color rinses and permanent hair coloring.
3. Performs services in the beauty/barber shop and on nursing units and in beds for
residents unable to be taken to the beauty/barber shop.
4. Maintains the beauty/barber shop and equipment in a sanitary, neat and orderly
manner.
5. Orders supplies and maintains inventory of products in the beauty/barber shop.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Training: Must maintain a current license/certification, according to State
law.
A.D.A ((Americans with Disabilities Act)(as amended)) REQUIREMENTS: Must be
able to bend, stoop, push, pull, and walk and stand for most of the working day. Requires
manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard office machines such as fax, telephone,
etc. Requires normal range of hearing and vision. Must be free from communicable
diseases that pose a "direct threat" to the health or safety of others and which cannot be
eliminated by a reasonable accommodation. Must be able to lift a minimum of 30
pounds, and be able to carry and transport supplies. Must be able to pass a post-offer, preemployment
physical health examination as a condition of employment. Must be capable
