DEPARTMENT: 126 – MALSP / STATUS: Part-Time 12-Month (25 hours/week) / CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt Staff / RANK: Admin II / LAST UPDATED: Spring 2024

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The purpose of the faculty and student service coordinator for the Hispanic Programs and Initiatives Department is to provide administrative support and collaborate with the Director. He/she is primarily responsible for managing student success and support services to M.A. in Leadership – Spanish Language (MLSP), and certificate students, providing high quality customer service via phone, online, and face-to-face. The candidate will also support faculty in the liaising with the Department Director and the Senior Registrar, coordinating bi-yearly residencies, and helping achieve enrollment and retention goals. The applicant will complete other duties related to the program.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES / Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Reports to the Director of Hispanic Department & the Dean of STM 
  • Focuses on Student Success and Support Services for Hispanic Programs
  • Facilitate the online orientation and welcome of new students in the department.
  • Provide welcome communication and connect new students joining the program.
  • Collaborate with Enrollment, Financial Aid, and Registrar offices regarding Hispanic student needs and services (email, Moodle, empower, financials, etc.).
  • Collaborate with the Program Director to coordinate student events or meetings
  • Provide student support and success coaching through the program from initial residency until graduation (student care).
  • Maintain student and program data organized and up to date on SharePoint.
  • Assist the Program Director with coordination of program residencies and collaborate with other departments on-campus to have our bi-yearly residencies and Cumbre de Liderazgo events.
  • Work with the Senior Registrar regarding all registration needs and communicate with the student anything related to their progress, including academic standing and graduation.
  • Provide spiritual care as needed
  • Provide some Spanish translation of documents needed for students (directly related to the program). Faculty support
  • Support MLSP faculty by providing administrative, technical, and academic services.
  • Connect with faculty to update their course outlines and Moodle shells as they are getting ready to start a new course in the program.
  • Help MLSP faculty with email accounts, empower, Moodle and other software as things arise.
  • Collaborate with the Program Director to coordinate faculty events, meetings and other MLSP meetings.
  • Participate in program meetings, recruitment events, or other type of department events in collaboration with the Program Director.

Requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • A vibrant Christian faith and worldview consistent with the LPU’s Statement of faith.
  • Minimum B.A. degree and qualified experience. Background in customer service or higher education preferred.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with students, parents, pastors, faculty, staff, &
  • leaders (solid interpersonal, public address, written/verbal communication skills are a must)
  • Proficient working computer knowledge: Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Typing 50
  • Intermediate to Advanced Excel Skills (working with formulas and graphs)
  • Bilingual (will provide support to Hispanic Students and Faculty). Excellent English/Spanish skills and writing ability

NOTE: Though not required, this position is optionally eligible for appointment as a Foursquare minister under certain conditions. If appointed as a minister, the employee will be available to provide pastoral care and prayer. In addition, s/he may be called upon to perform sacerdotal duties upon request of the University.
