Temporary/Permanent: Temporary

 Other Conditions: For placement in lecturer pool beginning Fall 2024, Spring 2025, and Summer 2025. Positions are part-time, temporary, non-tenure, and contingent upon course offerings, sufficient student enrollment, position clearance, and availability of funding. May be for courses during the day, evening, off-campus, and/or via distance learning, as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Teaching lectures and/or laboratory astronomy classes for the Bachelor’s Degree (BS) in Astronomy and/or;
  2. Teaching General Education lecture and/or laboratory astronomy courses offered by the Department of Physics and Astronomy.
  3. Maintain a minimum of one office hour per week for each course taught.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Master’s degree in astronomy or a closely related field from an accredited institution.

 Desirable Qualifications

  1. Experience in teaching astronomy classes at the college level.
  2. Experience with astronomy laboratory equipment, in particular small aperture telescopes.
