YMCA of Orange County is Hiring a Lifeguard Near Pomona, CA

Looking for a fun Summer environment where you can gain valuable team and professional experience to last a lifetime? The YMCA currently has open Lifeguard positions where you can be a part of a team that provides a valuable service to the community while gaining valuable experience for yourself.

The YMCA will have lifeguard positions at the following locations:

  • Washington Pool: 865 E Grand Ave, Pomona, CA 91766
  • Ganesha Pool: 1575 N White Ave, Pomona, CA 91768

The YMCA will pay and train you to get Lifeguard certified, you will have access to YMCA gym facilities in Orange County, we work with flexible schedules and many more benefits that are located below. The Lifeguard will explain safety rules to our members, warn them about unsafe situations, and enforce the rules of the pool when needed! You will play an instrumental role in maintaining orderliness by inspecting swimming pool areas, locker rooms and restrooms. Top candidates are excellent communicators, swift and safety-minded.

The YMCA will have the following shifts available:

  • Washington Pool
  • June-September- Tuesday– Sunday: 12:30p to 5:15p
  • Ganesha Pool
  • June-September Tuesday– Sunday: 9:30a to 8:15p (different shifts within that time)

What you need to apply:

  • 15 and a half years of age or older. If under 18 work permit needed.
  • Programs run through spring and/or summer, school work permit required for duration employment.
  • Completion of lifeguard training. First Aid, AED and CPR certification. YMCA will certify you for free upon hire.
  • Hire impendent upon passing of swim test during interview. Swim test includes:
  • Lifeguard:
  • 300 yd freestyle
  • 2-minute tread (no hands)
  • 2-minute timed 10lb brick tow test.
  • Instructors:
  • 25 yd butterfly, backstroke, breast stroke, freestyle (each)
  • General understanding of aquatics instruction verbiage/terms.
  • Proficient communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficient in interacting with people of various ages from diverse backgrounds.
  • Flexible availability.
  • In-person interview and swim testing will take place beginning of April at the Ganesha or Washington pool locations.

Once a conditional offer is made, candidates will be subject to criminal background check, drug screen, and will be asked to provide criminal history.
