Excela Health is Hiring a Patient Registration Representative Near Clarion, PA
Responsible for registering all patient types using established policy and procedures of the facility and communicate effectively with the patient/family, peers and all members of the health care team. Obtains accurate demographic information from patients and/or family members, verifies all proper insurance information, secure managed care referrals, obtain appropriate signatures on all forms, and collects co-pays at the time of service. Understands third party regulations, referrals, authorizations, Advance Beneficiary Notice, and Point of Service collections.
Essential Job Functions
* Perform all patient registration area functions with a high degree of accuracy.
* Keep patient flow moving by registering in a timely manner.
* Verify insurances to maximize reimbursements.
* Identify insurances that require out-of-pocket expense and collect payment from patient and time of service.
* Complete Advanced Beneficiary Notices, referrals, and authorizations to secure payment.
* Other duties as assigned.
Competency and Experience (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
Required Qualifications/Experience
* High School Diploma, GED, or higher level of education.
* Typing and customer service experience.
* Strong leadership ability, good organizational skills, independent and critical thinking skills, sound judgment.
* Strong ability to communicate complex and/or controversial topics and concepts to a wide and diverse audience.
Preferred Qualifications/Experience
* Medical Terminology
* Previous registration experience.
License, Certification & Clearances
* Act 34-PA Criminal Record Check from the PA State Police system
Supervisory Responsibilities
* This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities, but does serve as a coach and mentor for other positions in the department.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
* Incumbent will be scheduled based on operational need (rotate shifts, standby, on-call, etc.).
* Travel may be expected locally between System locations.
