Under general supervision, provides a wide variety of clerical and administrative support in the day to day operation of the office of the Mayor and City Commission. Strong writing skills and social media knowledge. Supports the Mayor and members of the City Commission in carrying out their duties as elected officials. Reports to the Chief of Staff or designee.

Work schedule is dictated by the operational needs of the Office of the Mayor and City Commission. Work schedule and hours will vary.
This is a part-time temporary position.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities

Responsible for special projects as assigned by elected officials, including but not limited to research, data analysis and data compilation.

As directed, arranges and attends both daytime and evening meetings and handles those issues not requiring the elected official's attention.

Copies and collates documents for various meetings; reserves rooms and facilities for meetings and assists with meeting set-up arrangements.

Prepares proclamations for the City Commission agenda and coordinates with recipients to attend Commission meetings.

Receives inquiries from the public and coordinates responses on behalf of the assigned elected official as directed.

Provides basic information regarding City activities and events and the activities of the Mayor and City Commission.

Composes and edits a variety of correspondence, reports, memoranda and other materials requiring judgement as to content, accuracy, and completeness.

Handles and prepares written correspondence and distributes to appropriate persons.

Prepares and handles information that is confidential and sensitive in nature with a high degree of diplomacy.

Gathers data and correspondence relevant to items on agenda. Researches information as required.

May assist with maintaining files, ensuring proper records management.

Operates and maintains an assortment of machinery and equipment in the performance of daily tasks including a computer, copier, facsimile, calculator and telephone.

Interacts and communicates with various groups and individuals in connection with the elected officials including other City employees and department heads; local, state and federal governmental officials, and the public.
ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Performs other related duties as required.
Minimum Training and Experience

Requires high school diploma supplemented by one to two years of experience in a clerical or administrative support position, or any combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. May be required to demonstrate proficiency in clerical and/or computer software skills through the completion of a skills assessment exercise. Must possess a valid Florida driver's license.
