Arizona Youth Partnership (AZYP) has received the federal grant award to fund the project titled LAHMB: Linking Actions for Healthy Mothers and Babies. This project is funded through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services; Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). In Gila County, rates of babies born with neonatal abstinence syndrome (or neonatal opioid withdrawal syndrome) are significant. LAHMB will serve rural communities within Gila County with a focus on the prevalence of opioid and other substance addiction and its consequences on children and families. Through the LAHMB Consortium, members plan to substantially reduce the incidence and impact of neonatal abstinence syndrome with a multi-dimensional approach across the preconception, prenatal, and post-partum stages for women and birthing people who are of childbearing age, pregnant and/or pregnant with substance use disorder.

Arizona Youth Partnership has also received a federal grant award to fund the First Things First (FTF) program in Gila County. AZYP offers parents in the Gila Region with children from birth to age five the opportunity to improve their positive parenting abilities by way of the Active Parenting: First Five Years program model, a comprehensive parenting series offering an indepth exploration of multiple parenting topics including parenting, child development, non-violence discipline, caring for the caregiver, and preparing for school. The model includes 4 weekly sessions, is available in English and Spanish, and has been deemed as an effective research-based program.

The Program Educator is responsible for providing a trusting, open and non-judgmental relationship with all families and program participants to effectively and appropriately deliver evidence-based curriculum to people who are pregnant and/or parenting. The Program Educator is also responsible for helping parents develop realistic and healthy goals for pregnancy, birth, and early childhood, including parents with SUD/OUD at risk for having a child with NAS.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• HRSA (60%): Healthy Childbirth/Pregnancy Programming
  • Provide Injoy curricula for participants throughout Gila County
  • Coordinate with LAHMB Case Managers on participant referrals for childbirth/pregnancy classes and/or participant status reports
  • Track participants to ensure goals and units of service are met
  • Administer post-knowledge tests at the end of each class series
  • Conduct regular outreach and participate in ongoing program promotion in the community as needed; including presentations, tabling events, and/or health fairs as needed
  • Spearhead marketing efforts to build community partnerships
  • Enter all client participation information in required reporting document
  • Complete reports as required by the fund source and/or Program Manager
• FTF (40%): Parenting Programming
  • Provide Active Parenting: First Five years curricula for participants throughout Northern Gila County
  • Provide community referrals and support to all participants
  • Collect consents, surveys, demographic information and assist in all required FTF reporting
  • Spearhead marketing efforts to build community partnerships
  • Track participants to ensure goals and units of service are met
  • Complete reports as required by the fund source and/or Program Manager
  • Administer post-knowledge tests at the end of each class series
  • Participate in ongoing program promotion in the community as needed; including presentations, outreach and health fairs, etc.
  • Execute and/or provide support for regional special events
  • Facilitate grant specific duties, including paperwork submission, classes, support groups, and/or special events
  • Enter all client participation information in required reporting document

• Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

• Bachelor’s Degree or advanced education with 1 year of related experience.
• High School Diploma or GED with 2 years of experience in education.
• 2 years of customer service experience, preferably education.
• Professional or personal experience supporting individuals with physical, mental, behavioral, and other challenging needs.
• Knowledge of rural Arizona, maternal health, substance use disorder and/or public health education.
• Excellent presentation, oral, written communication & computer skills; knowledge of Word, Excel, Publisher, Power Point.
• Initiating and independent worker. Creative, flexible, collaborator, team-player.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to pass a background check.
• AZ Driver’s License, reliable transportation, and ability to travel countywide and statewide.
• Automobile Insurance in the amount of $100,000/$300,000.
• Some evening and weekend hours as needed.
