Jamie Leeds Restaurant Group, home to award winning Hank's Oyster Bar, has an exciting opportunity for experienced servers at our popular Old Town Alexandria, VA location.

The restarurant space features 200 seats, an expanded private dining space, and the only rooftop bar in North Old Town Alexandria. I

REPORTS DIRECTLY TO MANAGER ON DUTY

Server Position Summary

Servers must be organized, able to think and act quickly and effectively, while retaining self-composure. They must be sensitive to our guests’ needs and possess a sense of timing.

Servers must take pride in their personal appearance and display integrity and honesty in all aspects of their employment.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

  • Be 18 years of age or older
  • Strong knowledge of beer, wine, and spirits, and be familiar with standard drink recipes
  • Basic mathematical skills and an ability to handle money and give correct change
  • Basic reading skills
  • Basic computer skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Organizational skills
  • Multi-task oriented
  • Knowledge of location’s food and beverage specifications
  • Knowledge of workplace safety procedures

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following :

  • Adhere to all procedures and guidelines in the Employee Handbook
  • Arrive on time and ready to work at scheduled time and for scheduled shifts
  • Set up and break down the restaurant according to location guidelines
  • Complete all opening, ongoing, and closing sidework in accordance with location standards
  • Work as a team with all staff members, both FOH and BOH
  • Practice good communication skills
  • Actively participate in pre-shift
  • Give full attention to the MOD / Chef
  • Take notes when necessary
  • Be knowledgeable about all menu items
  • Suggestively sell
  • Upsell when possible
  • Increase guest check average responsibly
  • Wait on all tables in section following our Steps of Service
  • Record orders using handhelds, and repeat to guests, before leaving the table
  • Work as a team with other servers to attend to all guests’ needs
  • Help other servers with their section
  • Process payments for guests using handhelds
  • Sign up Guests for our loyalty program via handhelds
  • Complete cashout at the end of shift
  • Participate in appropriate tip pool
  • Check in with closing server and the manager-on-duty before leaving the building at the end of a shift
  • Create a memorable and positive experience for guests
  • Notify the MOD of any unhappy or dissatisfied guest immediately, no matter how minor
  • Actively cultivate regular guests, build rapport
  • Strive for 100% guest satisfaction
  • Support Company goals and values
  • Shows respect and sensitivity for cultural differences
  • Promotes a harassment-free workplace
  • Promotes anti-discrimination in all aspects of work
  • Other duties as assigned

The employee must frequently communicate with expediters and servers and read orders on tickets. The employee is occasionally exposed to hazards including, but not limited to cuts from knives, slipping, tripping, falls and burns;

frequent exposure to smoke, steam; frequent contact / immersion of hands in water, sanitation solutions, meat products, poultry products, seafood and produce items and frequent washing of hands.
