JOB SUMMARY

The human resources generalist oversees and manages all employment-related operations to further the company’s workforce efficiency goals and facilitate in creating a harmonious workplace culture and working environment for employees. This position performs professional work of considerable difficulty overseeing a range of administrative functions related to human resource management. This position also conducts regular human resources training for employees and supervisors.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include the following:

  • Serve as a liaison between operations and employees by handling questions, interpreting, and administering company policies and helping to resolve work-related problems.
  • Provides advice and counsel to department heads, managers, and staff on updating, interpreting, and implementing programs and policies related to human resources.
  • Manage employee relations issues such as work complaints, harassment allegations or other employee concerns in accordance with company standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensures that department managers are implementing employment policies properly and uniformly.
  • Manage the offboarding including conducting exit interviews for voluntary resignations.
  • Maintain all employee personnel records, such as but not limited to payroll, medical, training records, etc.
  • Provides weekly HR reports to management pertaining to employment issues arising in that workweek across company departments. Weekly HR reports are to also include a list of items completed, pending, or planned by the Director of Human Resources for that week.
  • Develops, reviews, and revises company policies and procedures as needed and as required for legal compliance.
  • Ensures compliance with employment, safety, and other employee-related laws, regulations, and requirements.
  • Identifies key performance indicators for employees and employee retention.
  • Performs internal department checks and balances to mitigate legal liability exposure.
  • Support Director of Human Resources with compliance initiatives to reduce legal risks and ensure legal compliance.
  • Provide current and prospective employees with information about policies, job duties, working conditions, wages, opportunities for promotion, and employee benefits.
  • Administer healthcare plans and wellness programs for employees. Performs benefits administration, including, open enrollment, employee benefit changes, and communicating benefits information to employees. Include medical, dental, vision, COBRA, life/disability, and HSA/FSA. Assists with billing inquiries, adding, and terminating employee benefits and claims. Assists with group renewals.
  • Administers (401K) retirement plan.
  • Perform quality checks of benefits-related data and ensure compliance with current legislation.
  • Administer Education Tuition Reimbursement Program.
  • Administer Company leaves of absence program (i.e., FMLA, CFRA, ADA and Workers Compensation). Communicates with employees regarding their needs for leave, ensuring that all employees are aware of their responsibilities; gathering and completing all required paperwork; facilitating smooth and timely return to work, relaying communication between employees and their managers; advising managers and employees on the interaction of leave laws with paid time off, overseeing the return-to-work process for employees; administering other company time-off programs; drafting and recommending revisions to company leave policies.
  • Administer Workers Compensation Program. Process workers’ compensation claims promptly and accurately. Work closely with Managers and Supervisors to identify accident causes and fill out the required paperwork. Reply to all employee questions and inquiries regarding their claims. Manage communications with insurance providers. Keep and prepare records of investigation reports, witness statements and medical reports.
  • Coordinate conferences, meetings, or special events, such as luncheons and company events.
  • Develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with fellow employees.
  • Assist in various areas as needed such as recruiting, and payroll as required assistance.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Education bachelor’s degree in business management, human resources, or equivalent field preferred. (Equivalent years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree).
  • Licenses/Certifications PHR-CA or SPHR-CA or ability of obtaining certification is a plus.
  • Relative Experience 5-7 years in a generalist role, specialist, or relevant support position and thorough knowledge of federal, California, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance. Knowledge of principles and procedures for personnel recruitment, selection, training, compensation and benefits and negotiation, and personnel information systems. Knowledge of employee benefits and laws such as FMLA, ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, etc.
  • Industry Related Experience - Aerospace/Airline/Aviation/FAA Compliance experience a plus.
  • Customer Service - 4 years of experience in a fast-paced, high volume, customer-focused environment.
  • Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record required. Must successfully obtain a Driver badge through the Southern California Logistics Airport.

  • Computer Skills Must have a strong working knowledge of MS Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) along with experience with HRIS and Talent Management System and ERP software such as Paycom, Corridor etc.
