SMMA is Hiring a Project Manager Near Cambridge, MA

SMMA is seeking experienced project managers to work on our K-12, higher education, corporate and commercial, federal government, or science and technology projects. We are an integrated, multidisciplinary design firm based in Cambridge, MA and Providence, RI whose mission is to design places that are responsible, well-crafted, venturesome, and beautiful.
Essential for this role is a solid understanding of the study, design, and construction processes. The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills; strong team and leadership abilities; and project planning acumen. As the primary point of contact, the Project Manager will continuously foster collaboration between the design team and the client.
Main Competencies:
As a Project Manager at SMMA, you will be an excellent planner and organizer with the ability to develop goals and determine priorities while assessing the actions, time, surrounding circumstances, and resources needed to achieve those goals. You will also be a strong communicator who can articulate thoughts and express ideas effectively using oral, written, visual, and non-verbal communication skills. Furthermore, you will have a keen business sense and be able to adapt and remain flexible during times of change.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Create proposals for project opportunities
  • Present project information to clients, boards, and community stakeholders
  • Provide clear direction for internal design team members and external consultants
  • Manage internal schedule, budget, and scope
  • Analyze technical challenges, review construction methods, and vet budget pricing for best construction options
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for the duration of a project
  • Contribute to SMMA's business development efforts
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, or Construction Management
  • Experience with the A/E/C industry
  • Demonstrated successful experience managing design projects through multiple phases
Preferred:
  • Professional registration
  • Willingness and ability to travel to project sites and clients outside of the greater Boston area
