Job description

Job Summary:

The VP of Servicing Compliance is responsible for managing critical elements of the company’s servicing compliance management system (CMS) and works directly with the Chief Compliance Officer to ensure the company achieves its servicing compliance objectives.

Essential Duties:

  • Responsible for the day-to-day administration of the company’s servicing compliance management system.
  • Maintain and create servicing policies and procedures. 
  • Supervise the change management process, assisting with the analysis of newly passed federal and state laws and regulations and agency. guidelines for impact on servicing operations. 
  • Oversight of self-identified remediation and corrective actions.
  • Track and analyze key metrics to ensure the company is meeting compliance requirements.
  • Work directly with the Chief Compliance Officer on the coordination of regulatory examinations, including assisting with responses, remediation, corrective actions and subsequent monitoring.
  • Respond to compliance questions received from business units and perform compliance-related research projects as needed.
  • Coordinate with the Regulatory Complaints team to review and submit written complaint responses to regulatory agencies.
  • Create monthly reports for senior management and assist in presenting compliance topics to the monthly compliance committee.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of the company’s operational processes and the implications on other groups that function within the operations.
  • Develop relationships with fellow managers and partners within the line of business.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

  • Seven years mortgage servicing compliance experience required
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of federal and state mortgage servicing regulations, including but not limited to FDCPA, RESPA, TILA, SCRA, HPA, and ECOA
  • Knowledge of FHA, VA, FNMA, FHLMC and USDA guidelines
  • Collaborative spirit and strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively both in written and verbal form
  • Excellent organizational skills and strong work ethic
  • Ability to multitask and effectively manage time 
  • Desire to take personal responsibility to complete tasks and solve problems
  • Be able to take ownership of an issue and demonstrate transparency
  • Ability to remain professional even under strenuous situations
  • Ability to search websites and use industry resources to research compliance questions

Computer and Equipment Skills:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) 
  • Word processing (speed and accuracy) 
  • FICS’ Mortgage Servicer highly desired
  • AllRegs a plus • Email (Outlook a plus) 
  • Internet 
  • Use of typical office equipment (computers, phones, copiers, scanners, etc.)

Reasoning & Mental Abilities 

  • Uses critical thinking skills to interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form and to analyze complex documents like contracts and technical directions.

Physical Abilities

  • Vision (with or without correction) sufficient to read a computer screen at 20 inches and to operate office equipment or a car
  • Clear speaking on the telephone and in person; hearing within normal ranges in noise environments typical of office work
  • Able to sit for extended periods of time at computer or other workstation and in meetings
  • Able to operate office equipment and computers
  • Able to lift ten pounds occasionally unassisted
