The duties of Resident Care Associate include delivery of services as written on the approved service plan for each Resident. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: The essential duties and responsibilities described below are representative of those an associate encounters while performing the basic functions of this position. Promote the mission and core values of the Residence and LCB Senior Living to residents, visitors, co-workers and the surrounding community. 2. As an associate you are expected to have an active role in growing community occupancy by representing and interacting positively with potential residents, family members and professionals. 3. Prior to being assigned regular duties, each Resident Care Associate shall successfully complete the communitys and any state required orientation training program. 4. Assisting residents with medications according to State Regulations and LCB Policies and Procedures. Making the required record entries at appropriate times, and making the appropriate notifications to the nurse concerning medications. 5. Assisting the Residents with the Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including toileting, dressing, bathing, eating and walking; as described in the service plan. 6. Monitors for changes in resident needs, preferences and health status. Reports/documents any noticed changes at once to the RN or designee. 7. Assisting Residents with clothing and laundry needs as per the service plan. 8. Supervise or assist Residents with activity programs. 9. Assisting Residents in going to bed at night, when necessary. 10. Assisting Residents with keeping their units neat, clean and orderly. 11. Answering emergency calls and attending to the Residents needs promptly. 12. All Resident Care Associates are required to participate in the communitys regularly scheduled in-service training programs. Upon request of the Resident Care Director, Resident Care Associates shall participate in specialized staff training programs and mandatory education requirements dictated by State Regulations. 13. Assists with escorting residents to meals and activities as needed.14. Documents both scheduled and unscheduled service that are provided, including incidents, behaviors, and out of the ordinary events, including a residents refusal of services. Inputs information in to the community computer tracking system regarding services provided to residents. 15. Initiates, conducts and facilitates programming, including Habilitative / therapeutic groups and individual interaction, that offer cognitive stimulation, socialization, physical activity and spiritual connection. 16. Demonstrates Habilitative/therapeutic/Engagement conversation and redirection conversation with residents, offering appropriate cues. 17. Ability to manage difficult resident behaviors. 18. Other duties as requested. PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS: Good physical and mental health. Finger and hand dexterity to handle and manipulate instruments and equipment. Visual and auditory acuity. Must be able to lift a minimum of fifteen (15) lbs., and be able to carry objects. Must be able to push and pull carts, and continuously walk, sit and stand. Must be able to turn, crouch, kneel, stoop, bend below waist, and reach above shoulder height as tasks dictate. Must use good body mechanics. Stamina to make visits to residents throughout the community. Occasional pushing or pulling, assisting of residents weighing (~150 lbs.). Have the ability to occasionally push an occupied wheelchair for a distance of up to 200 feet. Must project a positive attitude towards the service provided. QualificationsQUALIFICATION STANDARDS: (These qualifications meet or exceed NH, MA, CT and RI State specific requirements.) a. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to use computer for documenting services provided. Shall be fluent in the ability to communicate in the English language, both oral and written. b. Education: Completed the course for certified nursing assistant or have equivalent training or experience as required by State Regulation. CPR and First Aide training as mandated by the State employed. c. Experience: Prior experience providing direct care or the equivalent in training preferred. Experience in caring for seniors with Alzheimers disease or other forms of Dementia is preferred. d. Certificates/Licenses: Current license/certification as required by State Regulation. Additionally, must maintain required certification and to provide copies of the documentation to the Resident Care Director or designee. e. Computer Skills: Demonstrates computer literacy and familiarity with office software, including but not limited to word processing or demonstrate the ability to learn data input.
