POSITION SUMMARY : Under general supervision from the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the Chief Operations Office (COO) at NVIH is an executive leadership role which oversees the operational efficiency and effectiveness of all aspects of our healthcare service delivery. The COO will play a critical role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality care, optimizing resource utilization, and fostering a culture sensitive to the healthcare needs of Native American patients in alignment with the Core Values of the agency. A successful incumbent will be an individual who has a passion for serving the healthcare needs of the underserved communities and promoting health equity.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS : The list that follows is not intended as a comprehensive list, but rather to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities. Incumbent(s) will be required to perform a variety of duties listed, including but not limited to:

  • Collaborate with the CEO and executive team to develop and implement strategic initiatives aligned with the organizations mission, vision and goals
  • Provide visionary leadership and drive operational excellence and ensure the delivery of high-quality healthcare services and patient experiences to the community.
  • Participates in ensuring effective provider recruiting, onboarding, professional development, and retention.
  • Manage and oversee all required licensing for clinical operations ensuring initial applications and timely renewals are submitted in accordance with associated regulatory agency.
  • Oversight of operations to ensure smooth functioning of all clinics.
  • Foster effective collaboration between clinical disciplines and organizational departments to ensure an integrated approach to providing services.
  • Develop and implement operational policies and procedures to optimize efficiency, effectiveness, and patient satisfaction and access
  • Develop, maintain and monitor metrics to track organizational key performance indicators and identify areas of improvement; prepare detailed updates and forecasts participate and contribute to the Continuous Quality Improvement team and activities.
  • Ensure operational and facility vendor relationships and performance are managed to meet NVIH needs at an optimal level.
  • Manage and oversee operational financial resources effectively, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning for operations and projects.
  • Work closely with the finance team to ensure fiscal responsibility, cost containment and revenue optimization while maintaining high-quality patient care standards
  • Effectively supervise the Compliance Manager/Officer ensuring the compliance of the organization.
  • Establish and maintain a culture of quality and safety throughout the organization, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards with support from the Quality and Safety Program Managers.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team, fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment.
  • Coach, counsel, and manage team ensuring position objectives are met and staff are accountable for their areas of responsibility and behaviors.
  • Promote professional growth and development opportunities for staff members, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives
  • Cultivate strong relationships with key stakeholders, including healthcare providers, community leaders, regulatory agencies, and other external partners
  • Represent the organization in various forums and collaborate with external stakeholders to enhance community engagement, partnerships and advocacy efforts.
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

The following knowledge, skills, and abilities are required for an employee to successfully perform their duties.

  1. Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or related field is preferred.
  2. Minimum seven (7) years of progressive leadership experience in healthcare management, with a proven track record of success in operational leadership roles including a minimum of 3-4 Years' experience as COO for medium to large Healthcare Organization.
  3. Demonstrated ability of strategic thinking with analytical problem-solving skills and a focus on continuous improvement
  4. Experience managing projects to support operations, the team, and Agency.
  5. Proven ability to function in a multi-dimensional, dynamic, high-paced work environment.
  6. Leadership and interpersonal skills exhibiting behavior that inspires trust and motivates others (e.g. support teams with adapting to change, manage others to perform, etc)
  7. Excellent verbal and, non-verbal communication skills with the ability to speak publicly, develop and present material to a wide audience base
  8. Proficient written communication skills required to produce clear, concise, respectful and appropriate information through various means such as Request for Proposal (RFP), email correspondence, memos, reports and presentation material.
  9. Strong negotiation skills to support fiscal responsibility and manage change and develop/manage budgets
  10. Demonstrated ability to lead change, drive innovation, and achieve results in a complex and dynamic environment
  11. Commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion principles in all aspects of organizational leadership and decision-making.
  12. Reliable Transportation and ability to adhere to regular attendance at NVIH facilities.
