Closing Date 04/30/2024 POSITION SUMMARY The Assistant Director of Athletics will assist the District Director in providing administrative leadership in planning, implementing, coordinating, and evaluating school-level athletic directors and athletic programs for middle and high schools in Atlanta Public Schools. Requires evening and weekend commitments. ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Organizes meetings with school-level Athletic Directors to ensure knowledge of and compliance with district, state, and national practices, procedures, and regulations
Attends national, state, and local conferences to share and receive best practices regarding youth sports/athletics
Assists in the vetting and purchasing of vendor products and platforms used by district and school-level athletic departments
Responsible for ensuring all school-level Athletic Directors have Emergency Action Plans for various athletic facilities
Provides for and encourages opportunities for school-level athletic directors and coaches to participate in clinics, workshops, staff development, and state and national conferences to share best practices
Maintains records of coaching assignments for supplements for assigned schools
Coordinates scheduling and administration of events/activities, including regular season and playoff tournament officials
Reviews and approves all transportation requests for athletic competitions
Attends games and athletic functions as a member of Atlanta Public Schools
Coordinates events at APS-owned facilities, including stadiums.
Prepares reports as required by the supervisor
Required to have prompt, regular attendance in-person or virtually and be available to work on-site, in-person during regular business hours, and as needed.
Performs other duties as assigned by an appropriate administrator or their representative.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION:
Bachelor's Degree required
Master's Degree preferred
CERTIFICATION/LICENSE:
Valid Georgia Teaching Certificate required
Valid driver's license and availability for private transportation required
