Reports to: Service Center Manager

Job Responsibilities / Position Information for an Operation Leader include:

Summary:

Sulzer EMS is looking for a self motivated person who possesses strong leadership, people and management skills.

This is a FLSA Salaried Exempt Position. Compensation will be based on applicable experience, education, knowledge of industry, etc.

Job Description:

The primary functions of the Operation Leader include scheduling and execution, direct customer contact, employee development, and assuring adherence to SEMS procedures, policies, and practices including, but not limited to, production, safety, and quality. This person reports to the Service Center Manager and works closely with Sales and Purchasing. The craftsmen report directly to this position.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

* Job execution

* Reviews work scopes and time estimates with craftsmen prior to start of job

* Monitors performance against estimated or established time values

* Encourages efficient repair practices and strong pace of work

* Champions the elimination of wasted time and effort

* Customer contact

* Direct contact with customers on a daily basis regarding work in the shop

* Negotiate and communicate with customers regarding the customer's needs

* Technical coaching and problem-solving support

* Procedures and processes assurance - makes sure the craftsmen adhere to the following:

* SEMS systems

* SEMS repair procedures

* Industry standards and best practices adopted by SEMS

* OEM specifications

* Customer specifications

* Documentation (work steps completed, test results and measurements, photographs)

* Resources assurance - makes sure that craftsmen have the following resources they need to perform their work timely (productivity), accurately (quality), and safely

* Parts

* Tooling, equipment, and supplies

* Repair procedures

* Technical data / specifications

* Quality assurance

* Observes and corrects conditions and behaviors that put quality at risk

* Double - checks work, measurements, and test results

* Performs a final inspection immediately prior to each job leaving the shop

* Safety assurance

* Observes and corrects workplace hazards and behaviors that put health and safety at risk

* Reports of near hits and injuries

* Craftsmen evaluation and feedback

* Provides regular feedback to craftsmen regarding performance (productivity, quality, and safety)

* Works with craftsmen to develop and achieve improvement and career goals

* Confronts performance concerns and carries - out positive discipline when appropriate

* Does annual performance reviews for every craftsman and reports to Human Resources

* Craftsman training and development

* Arranges and supports on - the - job training (coaching, mentor assignments)

* Arranges and supports technical training (classroom, seminars, OEMs)

* Approves non-job purchase requisitions for shop resources

Expectations:

* Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar role

* Must have good communication, and employee coaching skills.

* Must be available after hours to answer technical questions from night crew.

* 10 HR minimum days not including an hour lunch.

* Weekend in person check-in if crew is working.

* Intimate knowledge of projects on the shop floor.

* Computer Skills (Word, Power point, Excel).

* Able to make critical decisions quickly and able to support the why.

* Ability to recognize when an employee is struggling with task and help correct before it becomes issue.

* Responsible for all Work in Progress.

* Must have the ability to hold employees accountable to their functions.

* Must have the ability to praise employees for a job well done.

* Ability to identify nonconformance issues and design a plan to correct the issue.

* Communicate with Sales team on a regular basis.

* Must be proactive and not reactive in nature.
