Texans Credit Union is Hiring a Staff Accountant Near Richardson, TX

This position exists to support the financial health and integrity of the credit union through diligent accounting practices, accurate financial reporting, and regulatory compliance. The Staff Accountant maintains the credit union's accounting records and reports. Prepares trial balance and financial statements, reconciles bank statements, and performs other related duties. Adheres to all related generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), tax and regulatory laws, rules, and regulations to always reflect the financial position of the Credit Union adequately and accurately.
Major Duties and Essential Functions
  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements, reports, and budgets.
  • Maintain various sub-leger accounts (prepaid, fixed asset, payroll, investments).
  • Participate in special projects and initiatives as assigned by management.
  • Assist in the establishment of new policies and procedures from special projects and the maintenance of current policies and procedures for Accounting functions.
  • Perform day to day accounting activities, including but not limited to accounts payable, general ledger entries, and complex credit union reconciliations.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies and procedures.
  • Aid with the implementation of internal controls for Accounting functions.
  • Collaborate with other departments to provide financial insights and support decision making.
  • Prepares regulatory filings including quarterly Call Reports and tax reporting, in addition to other reports that may be requested by various regulatory agencies.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing documentation and explanations as needed.
  • Stay informed about changes in accounting regulations and company requirements, Industry trends that are relevant to the credit union.
  • Prepare managerial and ad hoc reports as needed.
  • Back-up in all other areas of the Accounting Department as needed on a daily, monthly, quarterly, or yearly basis.

Requirements
Specific knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this position:
Must have a strong understanding of accounting principles and practices. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast- paced environment. Attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and analysis. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel knowledge is required.
Education : Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or any other related field preferred; two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience : Three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
