Totally Kids Specialty Healthcare is a small pediatric sub-acute hospital with 45 patients. We are the ONLY long-term care hospital dedicated entirely to children. Our residents' ages range from newborn to 21 years of age and we are dedicated to enriching the health and quality of life for our kids. We are always striving to meet the medical, developmental, social, psychological, and spiritual needs of our kids. We are looking for a skilled Infection Preventionist to become a part of our facility's compassionate caregiving family.

Qualifications:
1. Education/Experience
A. Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. 
B. Current California Licensed Vocational Nurse or Registered Nurse license.
C. Current basic CPR Card/Healthcare provider CPR or BLS.
D. Knowledge of the principles of epidemiology and infectious diseases.
Duties Summary:
Responsible for assessment and management of nursing care issues as related to residents in the area of infection control including but not limited to:
1. Performs resident assessments for appropriateness of resident's care concerning infection control and adherence to isolation policies and procedures.
2. Performs clinical rounds for surveillance to verify the status of residents, treatment, and necessary follow-up for care needs and staff development.
 
3. Surveillance rounds to examine the environmental factors that may impact on infection control issues/concerns.
4. Review culture reports and follow-up procedures.
5. Investigate outbreaks of infection and assess the presence/absence of cross-contamination and related data.
6. Evaluate data for indicators of the cause of infection.
7. Interacts with nursing and laboratory personnel to coordinate and facilitate services.
8. Monitor and educate nursing personnel on infection control issues/concerns.
9. Acts as a liaison with the local public health department in reporting infectious diseases/infections as defined in the Infection Control Manual.
10. Maintains all documentation as required by Federal and State regulations and company policy.
 
11. Give a summary of infections as to the type and number of infections acquired by residents and/or employees.
 
12. Ensure the exchange of essential information necessary for quality resident care in the area of infection control.
 
13. Coordinate the implementation of Infection Control recommendations.
 
14. Educate Nursing personnel on infectious diseases as part of the preceptor program.
15. Other responsibilities as delegated by supervisor.
Physical Requirements:
1. Reading, writing, and verbal skills.
2. Lifting requirements: Generally not lifting or carrying objects that weigh greater than 30 pounds.
3. Physical skills necessary to operate equipment:
4. Must be able to stand, reach in all directions, lift and carry objects.
5. Must have fine motor skills.
6. Must be able to read patient information, posted materials, and other printed material.
7. Must be able to speak, read, write, and listen in English with a skill level essential for communication in a sub-acute facility.
8. Must have normal physical stamina.
9. Must be able to perform chest compressions and hand resuscitator ventilation during CPR.
10. Must be able to bend and twist.
11. Must have full use of both hands.
12. Must be able to walk intermittently, for six to ten hours per shift.
13. Ability to concentrate, use good judgment, and maintain accuracy in the face of frequent interruptions and heavy workloads.
Education provided: Opportunities for In-service hours and CEUs, as required for BVNPT license renewals. BLS and FIRE classes are provided by the facility and you get paid for your time. We offer frequent Skills training and assessment -to stay up-to-date with changes in healthcare.
