PAY RANGE = $22/hr. to $29/hr.
Shift - M to F 7am to 330pm
GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
The CNC Programmer 2 sets up and programs a variety of production machines which may include: CNC Grinders, CNC Cylindrical Mills, CNC Lathes, and multi-axis machines to fabricate a variety of ceramic parts. This position will work closely with operators and machinists daily making new programs and troubleshooting/editing existing programs.
(Tasks listed are intended to be descriptive and not restrictive. An employee in this position may perform any of the tasks listed; however other duties may be assigned.)
REQUIRED:
High school diploma required, AS preferred.
5 years CNC program experience or on-the-job training ( or include completion of 2-year Machine Technology certificate)
4 years' experience with various measuring methods including mechanical inspection and CMM
Ability to read and comprehend verbal and written instructions in English.
Read mechanical drawings/blueprints including GD and T
Vision and depth perception suitable for use of inspection microscopes.
Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds.
Ability to either stand or walk for extended periods.
Ability to explain, train or lead other Operators in machining practices.
Must pass criminal background check and drug screen.
Eligible to work in an ITAR environment
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Demonstrates independent decision-making skills on day-to-day production tasks while offering responsive support to shop floor.
  2. Verifies conformance of finished work piece to specifications and makes corrections or improvements to programs as needed for production.
  3. Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjusts machine controls or control media as required. Resolves machining related quality issues.
  4. Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut, or enters commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media.
  5. Will train machinists and operators on standard processes related to program entry and editing. May train other programmers and engineering team members on programing and/or CNC machining.
  6. Measures, marks, and scribes' dimensions and reference points on material or work piece as guides for machining.
  7. Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, and/or specifications to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements. May create and maintain process documentation.
  8. Research, test and implement new programs, tool holders, and processes in compliance with Copy exact and internal policies. May create reports, instructions, manuals, or presentations.
  9. Assists in design development process for new parts to be machined.
  10. Participates in the continuous review of our machining processes, focusing on opportunities for improvement in productivity, quality, and cost reduction.
  11. May train less experienced operators and machinists on a wide variety of machining techniques.
  12. Confers with engineers, machinists, production managers or others to resolve machining or yield problems.
  13. Helps drive our P5S program and support suggestion program daily in the production areas.
  14. Uses G & M codes to move multiple axes to grind inserts to customer specifications.
  15. Verifies dimensions and alignment of parts and ensure new programs introduced comply with and support product flow, safe machining practices, and customer needs.
  16. Sets up and operates machine on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data. Exhibits trouble shooting skills and problem solving daily.
  17. May complete First Article and New Part Introduction processes. This role is typically cross trained on CMM and other measuring/inspection tools.
  18. May be cross trained in other engineering areas as needed for process improvements.
  19. Model secure and ethical practices for ITAR, information transfer, security, confidential information, and safe machine operation.
  20. Communicates effectively with peers and managers in email or in person.
  21. Proficient in CAD, Solid works, and CAM software. Basic knowledge of 5 axis programming.
Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
