MVL is bidding work for various US Military contracting entities throughout the US. MVL has a client-focused culture and delivers high-quality, on-time projects. We are looking for like-minded, dynamic individuals to come and join our rapidly expanding team.We are currently seeking a Safety and Health Program Manager (SHPM) to serve on a project team for a multi-year contract. No security clearance is required for this position, but ability to pass a background check is required to gain access to the worksite. The duration of this project is anticipated to be 24 months from Notice to Proceed (NTP). Work will start late summer 2019.Job DescriptionPRIMARY FUNCTION:The SHPM is responsible for the effective implementation, coordination, and enforcement of the Construction Accident Prevention Plan (CAPP) to assist in safely delivering the project.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:SHPM shall be on-site at all times when work is being performedProvide and enforce safety and occupational health for all persons authorized to be at the project site and protection of property on and adjacent to the project siteProvide and ensure project team and subcontractor compliance with the safety and occupational health requirementsPosts notices at the project site that name the SHPM and describe the authority and responsibility held by the positionSole duties shall be effective implementation, coordination, and enforcement of the Construction Accident Prevention Plan (CAPP)PHYSICAL JOB DEMANDS:Reaching above and below, stooping and bending. Lifting/carrying/moving 1 to 15 pounds of weight in the form of paper, boxes, files, etc. Manual dexterity to operate office equipment, filing, and perform specialized skills. Requires a high degree of concentration in a busy office environment.WORKING CONDITIONS:Contract requires 5 days per week, 8 hours per day. Schedules may be modified to better accommodate business needs. Flexibility with hours is required. Afghanistan can be a hostile, dangerous environment. The project site is intended to be located within a secured perimeter. They are not exhaustive lists of all duties, responsibilities, knowledge, skills, abilities, physical job demands and working conditions associated with the position.QualificationsKNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIREDMust be fluent in reading, speaking, and writing English and English-language construction terminologySole duties shall be effective implementation, coordination, and enforcement of the Construction Accident Prevention Plan (CAPP)Completed the 30 hour OSHA construction safety classMinimum three (3) years of experience as a site construction safety manager on projects involving the construction of large concrete commercial /residential buildings, highway and road or concrete worksSHPM shall be fully knowledgeable regarding all sections in the latest edition of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Safety & Health Requirements Manual EM385-1-1 that are relevant to Federal construction site operationsSHPM shall be qualified/cognizant to anticipate, identify, evaluate, and implement corrective action through activity/worker hazard analysis, worker training, and proactive oversight of construction operations to abate or reduce potential safety and health hazards and dangerous environmental exposuresExperience working for a General Contractor on Federal, State or Municipal government design-build and construction contractsPossess strong communication and interpersonal skillsKnowledge and experience with construction methods, techniques, and standardsPREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Experience on Federal projects of similar size and scope. Design-build contracts.bachelor's degree in safety management, occupational health and safety, or environmental safety OR In lieu of these educational requirements, recent successful performance as SHPM on project(s) of similar size, complexity, and location Additional InformationOur employees are our most valuable resources, and we strive to ensure that every one of them is treated as such.
