We are seeking a VP, Accounting Policy to join our Accounting Policy team within the controllership function of Broadridge Financial Solutions, reporting to the Assistant Corporate Controller. The accounting policy function works across the business globally to ensure accounting policies are continuously updated and communicated to the members of the accounting department. We are looking for someone that can enhance our policy function. This is a great opportunity to develop your technical accounting and financial reporting knowledge while gaining exposure to senior level executives. Responsibilities: Key Leadership position, internally and externally, providing subject matter expertise on accounting guidance and makes recommendations regarding the interpretation and application of accounting standards under company policy and GAAP. Have a broad span of influence within the accounting function; provide vision, leadership and innovation regarding finance point of view. Responsible for technical accounting research and implementation, including reviewing proposed accounting standards and determining the potential impact to the Company. Reviews complicated accounting issues and makes recommendations for appropriate treatment. Advise business heads and managers regarding the accounting implications of new products and changes to existing products. Document and research financial, tax and regulatory reporting changes. Lead in the preparation of accounting transaction memos detailing significant transactions. Assist in the representation of the organization externally on matters affiliated with accounting policies and external reporting by developing an active role in industry-wide relationships and associated organizational meetings. Play critical leadership role in technical support for M&A and structured transactions and other ad hoc initiatives by providing technical accounting consulting/advisory services to support structured transactions which includes due diligence and transaction structuring for accounting issues. Assistance with target company's implementation of acquiring company's accounting policies and any other related project management. Assist in the quarterly preparation and review of consolidated financial statements, and related SEC disclosures for public filings including forms: 10K, 10Q, and 8Ks. Advise on the financial statement review process to ensure all matters are appropriately disclosed. Responsible for the preparation and updating of accounting policies and maintenance of the Company on-line accounting policy manual Interact with independent accountants on accounting technical matters Responsible for providing training to accounting department related to accounting policies and new accounting standards Fulfill ad-hoc requests from members within the accounting department and other areas as needed. This person will work with key stakeholders to ensure accounting and financial reporting process risks have been identified, assessed and documented in accordance with SOX requirements. Qualifications: Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting CPA required 10 years of related experience with minimum of 5 years of public accounting preferable Strong US GAAP knowledge and research skills Hands on knowledge and experience accounting financial reporting with respect to a technology company, including revenue recognition, software development (internal use software), impairment considerations Experience with technical accounting matters as it relates to business combinations, goodwill and intangible impairment Excellent verbal and written communication, including extensive experience writing and reviewing technical accounting memos Ability to clearly articulate accounting matters to senior executives Provide strategic direction and sound business judgment that result in the achievement of finance and companywide objectives Proficient with MS desktop applications #LI-LR Broadridge associates helped us envision our Connected Workplace - a work model that allows associates around the globe, dependent upon their role responsibilities, to take advantage of the benefits of both on-site and off-site work to support our clients, one another, and the communities where we live and work.
