Job Description:

A Physician, or Doctor, is responsible for providing expert medical care to patients with a range of potential illnesses, injuries or disabilities. Their duties include conducting routine physical examinations on patients, referring patients to medical specialists or counseling services and prescribing patients medications based on their condition.

Location: Anchorage, AK

Pay: $215,000 (depending on experience)

Qualifications:

Education/Degree: Graduate from an accredited school of medicine and is a Doctor of Medicine or Osteopathy.

Training/Licensure: Practicing physician currently licensed under the provisions of the State Board of Medicine.

Experience: Experience in primary care: internal medicine, geriatrics, or family medicine is preferred.

Skills/Abilities: Communication skills to interact clearly with both staff and patients. Flexibility to work with a variety of people, differing in ages, personalities and backgrounds. Collaboration and teamwork skills to work efficiently with others to provide new ideas and help inspire staff and management. Time management skills to be able to see a high number of patients. Interpersonal skills, compassion and empathy to build positive relationships with patients and colleagues.

Physical Requirements:

Must possess sight/hearing senses or use appropriate adaptive devices that will enable senses to function at a level required to meet the essential duties of the position.

Mental Requirements:

Must be able to work independently, make judgments based on assessments and data available and act accordingly. Must be flexible, innovative and possess good interpersonal skills. Must be able to cope with mental and emotional stress and demonstrate emotional stability.

Working Conditions:

Be able to tolerate exposure to the elements including, but not limited to, odors, blood, body fluids and excrements, adverse environmental conditions, and hazardous materials.

Transportation:

Must have valid driver's license, auto liability insurance and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities:

1. Respond to patients' medical issues by starting with their history

2. Order radiology and laboratory tests and refer patients to specialists when necessary

3. Analyze reports, examinations and test results to accurately diagnose patients, as well as present treatment options

4. Discuss and explain treatments and medication thoroughly with patients, advising them of all the side effects and making sure all allergy information is current before prescribing any medications or treatment

5. Advise patients on lifestyle and diet changes that could help improve their health or treat the health problem they have

6. Follow all departmental policies and procedures

7. Keep up-to-date with medical procedures, developments, treatments and available medication

8. Comply with federal and state privacy laws, always respecting a patient's confidentiality

Working Environment:

Works indoors in office, patient facilities/homes and travels to/from patient facilities/homes.
