This position is responsible for creating new product and tooling designs, in strict accordance with established engineering principles and quality standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES1) Research and analyze data, such as design proposal, specifications, manuals, and other resources, to determine feasibility and parameters of design, fabrication, assembly and application.2) Develop complex 3D part and assembly models along with 2D design documentation.3) Devise new or modified designs based on customer’s specifications.4) Modify product/tooling design when necessary to assure that functional and operational performance requirements are met.5) Review and approve designs of other designers and engineers.6) Share systems knowledge with other design staff.7) Maintain clean work station throughout each shift.8) Understand and follow quality-related standards and documentation.9) Other duties as assigned.
ADVANCED DUTIES1) Provide cross-training on engineering design concepts to coworkers, as directed.2) Project management.3) Customer interaction including technical reviews, DFMs, design consultation, etc.
QUALIFICATIONS1) Must have a thorough understanding of the following: Solidworks CAD, PDM, AutoCAD, product design, injection mold design, tooling design, precision tool fabrication, production manufacturing.2) Minimum of 5 years experience in precision manufacturing.3) Must have the following advanced math skills: Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Calculus, Statistics.4) Must have the ability to read various schematics and technical drawings.5) Must be able to operate computers and software used in this position (Solidworks, PDM, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, etc).6) Must have the ability to recognize critical phases of a project.7) Must be able to work with the public in a professional manner.8) Must demonstrate organizational and time management skills.9) Must be comfortable with on-the-job training, cross-training and training others.10) Must be able to work as a team-player as well as independently.11) Must be detail-oriented: accurate, consistent, thorough, neat, punctual.12) Must be able to maintain a clean work station each day and demonstrate a commitment to workplace safety.
EQUIPMENT USEDComputers, various design software, calipers, micrometers, optical comparators, plotters, 3D printers, etc. Other equipment may be assigned.
PHYSICAL DEMANDSRequires good hand/eye coordination, use of fine manipulation with hands and fingers, close/color vision, minimal fumes, minimal noise, minimal lifting, bending and stooping, standing and sitting, travel off premises
