About the Role

Job Title: Solutions Architect Data and Analytics

Works closely with and has impact on: Commercial Organization, Supply Chain, Quality Assurance

Reports to: Director Digital Solutions & Analytics

Function: Global IT

Work Location/Site: Frankfurt / HSOE


Role Overview

The Solutions Architect Data and Analytics evaluates the organization’s business needs for Data and Analytics solutions, define data standards and principles for HSO and determines technology solutions to support those needs leveraging software, hardware or infrastructure. S/he is responsible for the development of the overall vision that underlies the projected solution in support of business goals and executes that vision through technical implementation


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Defines the data architecture framework, standards, and principles, including modeling, metadata, security, reference data such as product codes and client categories, and master data such as clients, vendors, materials, and employees.
  • Defines data flows, i.e., which parts of the organization generate data, which require data to function, how data flows are managed, and how data changes in transition.
  • Provides a standard common business vocabulary, expresses strategic requirements, outlines high-level integrated designs to meet those requirements, and aligns with enterprise strategy and related business architecture.
  • Translates business requirements into technical specifications, including data streams, integrations, transformations, databases, and data warehouses.
  • Leads brainstorming sessions to develop potential solutions for business needs or problems.
  • Analyzes the business impact that certain technical choices may have on business processes.
  • Identifies opportunities for process improvements. Notifies stakeholders about any issues connected to the architecture.
  • Conducts a system architecture evaluation and collaborates within the IT organization to improve the architecture.
  • Creates and leads the process of integrating IT systems for them to meet the organization’s requirements.
  • Supervises and guides development teams as necessary to develop scalable solutions and products.
  • Defines the reference architecture which development teams can follow to create and improve data systems.
  • Collaborates and coordinates with multiple internal departments, stakeholders, partners, and external vendors.
  • Continuously researches emerging technologies and proposes changes to the existing architecture


Experience

  • Multi-year work experience as a Data Architect, Data Scientist, Data Analyst or similar role.
  • Proven experience with gathering and analyzing system requirements and managing projects


Skills/Accreditations

  • Passion to work for a global medical technology organization.
  • Understanding of established data management and reporting technologies, and have some knowledge of columnar and NoSQL databases, predictive analytics, data visualization, and unstructured data.
  • Excellent data management, data governance, and technology know-how, including knowledge about the design of (service-oriented) architectures.
  • Understanding of the different types of agile principles, methodologies and frameworks, especially those designed to be scaled at the enterprise level.
  • Sound professional experience in the design, implementation and documentation of data architectures.
  • Knowledge of ETL, data mining, and segmentation techniques.
  • Knowledge of databases (Azure SQL, MSQL) data lakes (e.g., Azure Data Lake/Delta lakes), Processing tools (e.g., Databricks/HDInsight) and BI and Reporting tools (e.g., Tableau) or similar technologies.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Azure Cloud and services.
  • Understanding of Enterprise Architecture frameworks (e.g., TOGAF/COBIT) and related tools like LeanIX.
  • Excellent analytical skills and a very quick grasp.
  • Independent way of working with high proactivity.
  • Excellent engagement skills and in particular steering the technical solution teams.
  • Excellent written, verbal, communication and presentation skills with the ability to articulate new ideas and concepts to technical and nontechnical audiences.
  • Ability to balance the long-term (“big picture”) and short-term implications of individual decisions and organization goals


Academic Qualifications

Bachelor in Computer Science or Information Technology
