Assistant Lab Officer, Laboratory of Human Genomics (GIS)

Job Responsibilities (Training provided)

Provide assistance and support to senior staff members in carrying out research activities

Stock management of consumables and reagents in the laboratory including purchasing of supplies

Liaise with vendors for the maintenance and servicing of laboratory equipment when necessary

Local travel for sample collection/delivery

General administrative and secretarial duties e.g. shipping of samples etc

Ensure the general upkeep and smooth functioning of the laboratory

Perform hands-on experiments and operations in standard laboratory settings

Learn all the techniques of handling high molecular gdna and dealing with different quantitation methods.

Learn the basics of aseptic technique, working in tissue culture environment.

Performing short reads capture library preparation

Work on genotyping and quantification qPCR.

How to Succeed

Proficient in MS Office applications, such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint and embrace technology

Self motivated, with a positive attitude towards learning new things.

Meticulous and well-organised in performing task

Willing to learn and develop new skills

Pro-active, quality conscious, attentive to details and results-oriented

Able to adapt in a fast pace environment.

An excellent team player who is resourceful with good communications and interpersonal skills

Support any other duties/projects assigned by RO

Requirements

No experience are welcome

Diploma in science field
