BUILDING INFORMATION MODELLING (BIM) TECHNICIAN

Job Description

The BIM Technician will work closely with architects, engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders to develop and implement BIM models, drawings, and documentation. This involves creating detailed digital models, managing data, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and project requirements.

Job Responsibilities

1. Create and manage BIM models: Develop and maintain 3D models using BIM software.

2. Coordinate data and models: Ensure data consistency and accuracy across multiple models and disciplines.

3. Collaborate with project teams: Work with architects, engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of BIM models and data.

4. Develop and implement BIM standards: Establish and maintain BIM standards, protocols, and workflows.

5. Manage data exchange: Ensure seamless data exchange between different software platforms and stakeholders.

6. Perform clash detection and resolution: Identify and resolve conflicts between different building systems and components.

7. Create construction sequencing and phasing plans: Develop 4D models to visualize construction schedules and phasing plans.

8. Develop and manage BIM documentation: Create and maintain BIM documentation, including model views, sheets, and reports.

9. Troubleshoot BIM issues: Identify and resolve technical issues related to BIM software and data management.

10. Stay up-to-date with industry developments: Participate in training and professional development to stay current with the latest BIM technologies and trends.

Required Skills and Qualifications

1. BIM software proficiency: Proficiency in BIM software, such as Autodesk Revit, Navisworks, or similar.

2. Construction industry knowledge: Understanding of construction principles, practices, and regulations.

3. Attention to detail: Strong attention to detail and ability to manage complex data sets.

4. Communication skills: Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

5. Problem-solving skills: Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

6. Time management skills: Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.

7. Degree or certification in BIM or related field: A degree or certification in BIM, construction management, or a related field.
