Director -HSE Programs APAC-Terminal/Landside

Job Summary

The Director of HSE Programs for APAC Terminals and Landside plays a pivotal role in driving a strong safety culture, focusing on emerging markets and onboarding new terminals and parks. Collaborating across clusters, this position provides visible safety leadership, enhancing HSE systems and processes to strengthen operational capabilities.

The role is critical in managing HSE risks effectively, addressing associated challenges, and leading a team of Senior HSE Managers to target high-risk operations, proactively preventing serious incidents.

Key Accountabilities

• Assist the Vice President – HSSE – APAC in strategic planning of HSE goals and targets to be used regionally.
• Deputise for the VP – HSSE – APAC during periods of absence and business travel, specifically as the primary point of contact for assigned imperative.
• Develop, project manage and support risk reduction programs and initiatives from conception to successful completion within time and on budget.
• Conduct pre-acquisition HSE Assessments and advise stakeholders of deficiencies and HSE requirements in new Landside acquisition(s) and terminal development projects.
• Developing and implementing 100 day plans targeting key risk areas and assign and manage HSSE resources to implement actions to safely transition new business.
• Help to eliminate and / lower HSE hazards and risks by working closely with operating entities and regional management in an advisory role.
• Maintain continual improvement leadership across all levels of the Region and assist with the identification of regulatory requirements and compliance measures.
• Respond to and manage Serious Incidents following DPW Incident Management standards at major and catastrophic classification
• Lead Investigations of Serious Incidents and High Potential events (major & catastrophic classification).
• Providing coaching and assistance to improve investigation quality and share lessons learnt to prevent recurrence.
• Mentor, advise and provide assistance to Cluster level and business unit based Leadership teams and HSE managers in the practical application of programs to improve safety culture.

Qualifications, Experience, and Skills

• Graduate degree in Health, Safety, Environment (HSE), or a related discipline, with a strong foundation in safety management principles.
• Minimum 8 years of practical experience in HSE programs, three of which must be at a management level leading HSE program implementation.
• Proven experience in leading incident investigations.
• Proven experience in the development and management of corrective action and/or safety culture programs.
• Project management skills.
• Experience in liaising with Government, Regulatory, industry and labour organisations.
• Ability to develop strong working relationships at all levels within an organisation.
• Ability to recognise issues, analyse, formulate and implement solutions.
• Excellent verbal and written skills.
