Job Summary:

The Cloud Network Specialist is responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and optimizing cloud-based network infrastructure. This role focuses on ensuring the scalability, security, and reliability of cloud network services, working closely with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and related technologies. The specialist will manage virtual networks, implement security policies, and troubleshoot cloud network issues.


Responsibilities:


1. Cloud Network Design and Implementation:

  • Design and implement virtual networks (VPCs, VNETs) and subnets within cloud environments.
  • Configure and manage cloud-based network services, including load balancers, gateways, and DNS.
  • Establish and maintain secure connectivity between on-premises networks and cloud environments (VPNs, Direct Connect, ExpressRoute).
  • Automate network provisioning and configuration using infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation).

2. Cloud Network Maintenance and Monitoring:

  • Monitor cloud network performance and ensure high availability and reliability.
  • Implement and manage cloud-native monitoring and logging tools (e.g., CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, Stackdriver).
  • Analyze network traffic and identify potential bottlenecks or performance issues within the cloud environment.
  • Optimize cloud network configurations for cost efficiency and performance.

3. Cloud Network Troubleshooting and Support:

  • Diagnose and resolve cloud network problems, including connectivity issues, latency, and security breaches.
  • Provide technical support to developers and other IT staff regarding cloud network services.
  • Document cloud network problems and resolutions.
  • Respond to cloud network outages and emergencies promptly.


4. Cloud Network Security:

  • Implement and maintain cloud network security measures, including security groups, network ACLs, and firewalls.
  • Perform security audits and vulnerability assessments within the cloud environment.
  • Ensure compliance with cloud security best practices and regulations.
  • Manage cloud-based identity and access management (IAM) policies.
  • Cloud Network Documentation and Reporting:
  • Create and maintain detailed documentation of cloud network architectures, configurations, and procedures.
  • Generate regular reports on cloud network performance, security, and utilization.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest cloud networking technologies and trends.

5. Collaboration:

  • Work with cloud architects, developers, and security teams to ensure seamless integration of cloud network services.
  • Coordinate with cloud service providers for network-related issues.
  • Participate in cloud migration and optimization projects.


Skills and Qualifications:


1. Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (preferred).
  • Relevant cloud certifications (AWS Certified Networking - Specialty, Azure Network Engineer Associate, Google Cloud Certified Professional Cloud Network Engineer) (highly desirable).

2. Technical Skills:

  • Strong understanding of cloud networking concepts and services (VPCs, subnets, routing, load balancing, DNS).
  • Experience with major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Proficiency in cloud-native networking tools and services.
  • Knowledge of network security principles and technologies in cloud environments.
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools (Terraform, CloudFormation).
  • Experience with scripting languages (Python, Bash) for automation.
  • Knowledge of container networking.

3. Soft Skills:

Experience:

  • Typically, 3-5 years of experience in cloud network administration or a related field.
  • Experience with cloud migration and optimization projects.
  • Experience with DevOps practices is a plus.
