We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Database Administrator (DBA) to manage and maintain critical Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle databases. This hands-on role involves the implementation, configuration, maintenance, and performance tuning of database systems to ensure availability, integrity, and consistent performance across all environments.
You will work closely with cross-functional teams to support the data needs of our corporate applications, including development, testing, and production environments. A strong technical foundation, proactive problem-solving ability, and effective communication skills are essential for success in this role.
Responsibilities:
- Configure, maintain, and monitor Microsoft SQL & Oracle servers to ensure optimal performance, availability, and security.
- Apply data modeling techniques to support application development and ensure scalability and performance alignment.
- Analyze and resolve database issues in real time; provide end-to-end problem resolution.
- Refine and automate routine maintenance tasks and processes; document procedures and changes.
- Assist development teams with complex query optimization and schema design.
- Manage backup and restore strategies; ensure data integrity and availability through robust recovery models.
- Implement and maintain High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) solutions.
- Provide 24x7 on-call support for mission-critical production environments, including weekends and public holidays.
- Perform scheduled database maintenance, including patching and upgrades.
- Support software release deployments and post-implementation activities.
- Share technical expertise through mentorship and cross-training with peers.
Key Qualifications:
- 5 years of hands-on experience as a Database Administrator working with Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle.
- Strong experience in performance tuning and optimization using native monitoring tools.
- Proficiency in backup and recovery, and a solid understanding of various recovery models.
- Knowledge and hands-on experience with HA/DR technologies.
- Familiarity with Windows Server environments and Active Directory.
- Operationally focused with a strong customer service mindset.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently or collaboratively.
- Strong planning, organizational, and time-management skills.
- Ability to adapt in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and juggle multiple tasks effectively.
- Self-driven, team-oriented, and results-focused individual with a "get-it-done" attitude.
Preferred Skills (Nice to Have):
- Experience with cloud-based databases or migration to cloud platforms (e.g., Azure SQL, Oracle Cloud).
- Knowledge of PowerShell, T-SQL, or PL/SQL scripting for automation.
- - Exposure to DevOps practices and CI/CD tools.
Working Conditions:
- May require after-hours and weekend work to support maintenance and critical incidents.
